I just picked up a new to me Springfield 1911-A1 in 38 super for $395:D I got a nice deal here. I'm planning on putting in a 9mm Kart Esy fit barrel to shoot 9mm out of the same gun, but after shooting some 38 super today I'm not sure why that round is not more popular. This is such a soft shooting gun. Needless to say I'm a happry camper! :D:D Anyway, here are few pix.

I have the same gun......and I also got mine for a bargain basement price!:D Seems no one wants a 1911 in .38 Super (I've always wanted one!):)
Anyway, here is a pic of mine.....I dressed it up a little with some "faux ivory" (i.e. plastic) Colt grips.

I'm sure part of the reason is that the cartridge does have a reputation for being inaccurate when the cartridge headspaces on the rim. Being semi rimmed, the earlier firearms headspaced on the rim; todays guns headspace on the case mouth, making the cartridge/gun much more accurate. I always wondered why they came out with the .357 SIG round, when the Super was there all along......kinda seems like reinventing the wheel, if you ask me.
Anyway, enjoy your Super.....I know I do. So much so that I use it as a CCW piece using a Milt Sparks summer special Holster. I use Winchester 125 grain Silvertip ammo for CC. I would really like to see Federal load it's Hydrashok bullet in this cartridge, and Remington load a 124-125 grain Golden Saber bullet in the Super as well (HEY!.....YOU GUYS FROM FEDERAL AND REMINGTON PAYING ATTENTION?????)

Agreed. Nice looking with "ivory" grips. I was thinking of something like that or a set of VZ in a light color. :D The accuracy of this gun-round combination seems very goo to me. I'm not shooting bullseye with it (not that you couldn't), but for IDPA/IPSC shooting this is a fine round. 357 sig has never made sense to me either. I looked in all the usual locations for 38 super brass and loaded ammo yesterday. I found one bag of new brass @ Cabelas, no loaded ammo there or the other two major gun stores in central CT. :( I guess that's why a lot of folks have the 9mm barrel fitted. I found a sizing die and will load the super for IDPA and maybe medium bore pins. Either way I'll have two soft shooting guns with a sweet trigger all wrapped up in one. :D
