Hey all, I just got my ccp and am looking for a new auto for my carry piece and want to be able to carry cocked and locked and not have to worry about it. I want my piece to be a full length .45 I really like the feel of the sig p220 but am not sure about no safety other than the decocker. Which brings me to the h&k usp or that other 45 one, but cosmetically I think they're as ugly as sin. finally i have really taken a liking to the fnp 45, and have done some searches but can't find anything bad about them. Tell me what yall think i should go with and why. BTW I originally wanted a 1911 fusion, but it's more cost effective to go with something else that will be just as if not more reliable.:( Thanks for all your help and advice.

Did you train with a semi automatic in your CCW class? If so, at least in my state you will be allowed to apply and get a unrestricted CCW.

If your CCW class gave you a revolver to shoot with, then you will only get a CCW legal for revolvers only, no semis.

Let's answer that before we dive into carry weapons shall we?

training

he he, in my county i didn't need any type of training other than hunter safety. God Bless Idaho.:D

If you don't like to do maintenance and routine cleaning, get a revolver. Auto's as a general rule tend to malfunction more if they are not regularly cleaned and oiled. Revolvers on the other hand are more forgiving and reliable. Figure out which way you want to go; find a gun that feels comfortable and then buy your weapon and train with it.

I would HIGHLY recommend the HK45. I've owned, handled, and shot this weapon and its reliability, accuracy, and comfort is unsurpassed. One of, if not, the best combat 45s I've ever touched.

The new USA versions are being shipped now with beautiful tritium night sights. Good luck with your decision.

feel

seriously, just go with whichever fits your hand the best. You can pickup a really nice gun but if you can't hold it comfortably it can mess up your game.

If you have $1200 buy a quality Commander sized 1911 from any of the major makers. The 1911 will require more practice than DA/SA pistol, but the benefits are worth it.
