I have a bunch of different products. I use very few of them.

If I am cleaning a firearm to put back in the safe for a while, I use Eezox. Why? Because it is the best stuff around.

When something better comes along, I'll buy and use it. On the down side, it is pricey and I can only buy it over the 'net, so I have to pay shipping as well.

For day to day CLP use, I started using use Ed's Red about a year ago. I am quite impressed with this formulation (equal parts ATF, mineral spirits, acetone and diesel fuel. Works as well as/better than many commercial products.

I use Breakfree CLP and 3 in 1 oil, might try some newer stuff when my supplies get low. Funny that vaseline was mentioned in the informal tests, a friend's grandfather smeared vaseline on his revolvers to preserve them in the NC humidity during storage. Sounds great in theory, but as I recall from that friend's prank of smearing vaseline in the door handles of my truck back in HS vaseline runs when hot and attracts mucho dirt.

I like one product that I can count on for everything. I found Gunzilla. It cleans and lubs and my Ruger 95 and my CZ52 each have excess of 4,000 rounds-no rust and always work. That is about five years of shooting.

My slides and other high wear areas get Amsoil NLGI#1 off road grease, it works great and a tube should last a LONG time.
Everything else gets BreakFree CLP, I may try EEZOX someday, though

I've been running an experiment with EEZOX all winter. I've had an old Star Super tucked away in my SUV since October in a fabric Uncle Mikes Holster, along with two spare magazines. Since then, we've had temps down below zero, weeks of non-stop rain, weeks of blizzards and everything in between. Some mornings, my interior windows are coated with condensation and at other times I've had to scrape ice from both inside and outside. Temps have ranged from -10 to +50 degrees, sometimes rising or falling by 30 or more degrees in a few hours as one front follows another.

Every week or so, I pull it out and give it a cursory check.

The gun? Pristine. The mags (also coated with EEZOX)? Pristine.

I've been using this product for several years and the more I use it, the more impressed I am. The real beauty of EEZOX is that your gun doesn't get dirty. Or, it only gets a little dirty and additional dirt gets blown off as you shoot. Yet, it continues to retain its lubricating qualities. And now, I'm convinced beyond any doubt that its protective qualities are also as good as the company claims them to be.

No, I don't work for EEZOX or own stock in EEZOX. :)
