New Glock 21 Advice?

I own a 21sf & love it. Just received an Advantage Arms .22lr conversion kit for it via FedEx today. Life is good. I keep eyeing a Glock 20. I want a 10mm bad, but no worse than I want a 1911 or an AR. I want too many guns for the amount of $ in my possession.

Hummmm, I could run up the credit card..........more.

Personal preference really, but I like the standard 5.5 lb trigger. As others have stated the 3.5 lb trigger is really not much lighter. I feel that while slightly heavier, the standard trigger is more crisp and predictable. The 3.5 lb trigger is lighter, but mushy in my experience.

Other than night sites and extra mags I prefer them as is.

I bought my G21 about 4 yrs ago & I carry it, often in a Summer Special IWB holster on the warmer day's & in the colder weather, I use a shoulder holster, As I am awaiting delivery of a new vertical shoulder holster for my G21 from the VEGA holster co. for thoes that do not know, Vega is a premium, holster co based in Italy, & has only one USA distributer, Python Leather co out of Missouri, they carry Vega's full line holsters at a great prices & their leather holster's rival any of the USA made holsters,Just as good if not better than the top USA holster companies.

I found that my accuracy noticably increased with the 3.5lb trigger. Just my experience though. :)

My first pistol was a Glock 21SF, as of now its outfitted with an extended slide release, m3x illuninator, and is being fed a mix of Federal Hydrashoks and SPEER gold dots. Another cool thing is I just bought a KRISS TDI mag extender and now have a 30 rd magazine to feed it. I'll make a range trip fri to see if the mag ex functions ,but it is made by MAGPUL so there should be no problems.

I own a Glock 21SF and all I can say is load up and happy shooting!
I've had no FTF, no misfeeds or any other issues with it yet. If you
fire reloads, watch for crimped or damaged cases. Also avoid leaded
slugs, Glock barrels do lead rather quickly. I'm so impressed with my
Glock 21SF that I'm now looking at getting a Glock 26 or 27 to upgrade
my concealed carry choices. Glocks are the AK47 of the pistol world,
they aren't pretty but they almost always shoot when you want them
to.

^^agreed.

the 3.5lb actually gives a 4.5lb pull so it's not too light for carry, for folks concerned about that. glock started calling it the "4.5" connector a couple years go. not sure why glock ever called it "3.5....
I'm picking up a 30SF pretty soon so I'm interested too. So if the 3.5 is really 4.5 and they sell both a 3.5 and a 4.5 then I want to buy the 3.5 to achieve a 4.5 pull right....!?

And, stick with the Glock OEM part or is one of the aftermarket options better?
Also...if the 3.5 is 4.5, then is the factory 5.5 really a 6.5?

There is no parking in a red zone. What's your vector Victor?

They were originally labeled 3.5lb. and 5.0lb. Glock changed the label to accurately reflect real pulls with other stock parts to 4.5lb. and 5.5lb.

Trigger pull is somewhat relative. IMO, the G21 does not benefit from a lightened trigger pull as much as the 9mm models.

Compared to my G27 or my G19, my G21's trigger pull is noticeably heavier and it has some creep. But since the grip is larger and the gun is longer and heavier, this more than balances out. I shoot the 21 much more accurately. I can easily dry-fire it all day long without any perceptible movement of the sights.

The other thing is the "Plaxico" factor. The heavier a handgun is, the heavier the trigger should be, to reduce the chance for an ND if the gun is mishandled.

my concealed carry choices.

I bought a G21sf and fell in love with it. My next purchase was a Glock 27. I added a 9mm conversion barrel & factory mags so that I could shoot 9mm in it also. I bought a 357sig conversion barrel this year and am now carrying it as a 357sig. Get the 27 instead of the 26. With barrel drop-ins you have more diversitility with the 27. If you buy the 26, you get a 9mm gun... nothing more.

Since I started this thread, I bought 5 more magazines from forum members and a spare guide rod and magazine insert. I plan to buy a spare floorplate too. My only upgrade will probably be new sights at some point. I'm leaving everything else stock - which is my normal approach.

I've shot Remington JHPs, Winchester PDX JHPs, Hornady XTP JHPs and Winchester FMJ ammo. All fed 100% in various magazines and combinations. Accuracy is excellent when I do my part.

I also bought some 45 acp brass, reloading trays and dies but haven't put them to good use yet.

I'm very pleased with the pistol. It is a little big, and the recoil is harder than my 9mms for sure. I have to admit - I do feel better protected with a 45 pistol.
