Well I was never a Glock fan just never shot one much, I recently traded into
a G23 Gen 4 40S&W, I figured if I did not like it it would be easy to sell off.
Turns out I really like this gun fit my hand well and I shoot it very well better
then my FNS 40,
I avoided the Glock Kool Aid for many years but I really like and impressed
with this G23
anyone else like the G23 Gen 4 anything I should be aware of,
I did not not notice any brass bulge I have read about ?

I like about every glock but I find the 17, 19, and 20 to be the best of the bunch. ....ymmv.

just a guess but you won't see glock smiles on your brass until you get to less watered down and hotter stuff like underwood. Although I hear some folks say they still don't see them....but slight bulging is hard to see imho.

Enjoy your newest. ...

I was never a Glock fan either until I started shooting a G19 once in a while at the range. Used to run into the guy at the range occasionally and he shot a few of my guns and I shot a few of his. His G19 grew on me and I liked the fact that his had several thousand rounds through it before I ever even saw it. I was impressed by the durability of it and simplicity of the design. So in Feb. of 2012 I got a brand new Gen. 3 G19 and I really like it. It's become one of my favorites.

I think that the 19 is a must have.
Drop in a 40-9 conversion barrel and turn the G23 into G19.

I liked my G17/G19/G26 but enjoy G22/G23/G27 even more with 40-9 conversion barrels. And I think G20 SF with shorter reach to trigger (slightly longer than G22) is a plus for me.

Welcome to the dark side.

I think you will find many things about Glocks that are born from the internet and are only true there.

I think that the Glock 19/23 strikes the perfect balance of size, weight and capacity for caliber. At least for me.

Good Glock resources......

Here are a few great sources for Glock parts/services/features;

www.glockworx.com www.glockstore.com www.customizeyourglock.com www.glockmeister.com www.brownells.com www.midwayusa.com www.grafs.com www.natchezss.com www.policehq.com .
I like the Glock 23 .40S&W. I almost purchased a police trade in Glock 23 .40 a few months ago but I had a minor problem at the last minute that kept me from buying it. I did get a LE trade-in/factory reconditioned Glock 21 .45acp gen 04 with 3 dot night sights.
It shoots well & I have no major problems with it. The only -s are the new Glock steel surface which is a charcoal grey color rather than a slick black like the "tennifer" styles. My Glock gen 04 gets strange blotches of light grey on the metal.
It wipes off quickly but I never saw anything like that on my Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm slide/barrel or my M&P Compact .45acp model. I plan to get the Glock 21 upper treated with Metalife soon. That should help the problem.
I also had the Glock 21 guide rod stick out while doing an assembly.
I've owned many semi auto pistols over the last 25 years but I've never seen a frame or spring/guide rod do that. I fixed it, but the Glock factory .45acp barrel now has a long scuff mark under it.
I've considered buying a match grade .45acp Glock barrel like Storm Lake or KKM. The EKGfiredragon barrel looks cool too. I'm in no big rush to buy that.
I would add the www.tangodown.com Vickers slide release & Glock gen 04 mag release. I'm left handed & like these after market parts.

Id close by adding the new Safariland AS7 polymer holster is great for duty, field or concealed carry of the Glock 23 .40S&W. It comes in FDE brown or black. Safariland has a new design & engineered the new holster line to prevent scuffs/nicks/wear. The holsters are light & can fit different belt widths/styles. :D
The aren't available yet for the Glock 20/21 models but are out there for Glocks in 26/27/33, 19/23 & 17/22/31. They also market M&P & Beretta M9 holster sizes. See the Safariland.com site for details.

PS; for cleaning/service, get a GTUL for the Glock magazines & a Glock armorer's tool. Good CLPs include FrogLube, Weaponshield, Gunzilla, IGG, and Eezox. Don't use a lot of gun oil or greases with Glocks. ;)

If they release one of the silver slide models with a FDE frame, I'll be getting one in the 19 format.

I had a G23 (Gen. 2) a few years ago and liked it a lot. It went bye bye in my caliber reduction campaign. It really was a sweet shooter. I believe that the casing bulge is a thing of the past with Glock improving its models.

Yeh I bought a 40 to 9 lone wolf loaded it up w/a new 9 magazine of my 9mm reloads W/P.Pistol that are on the high end! They shot well!

They really are marvelously simple machines that run and run and run. I could never warm up to them. Actually, my experience with my FN pistols is what prompted me to go the other direction and sell off my Glocks.

That said, I stumbled across a spare G21 mag I had before I fell in love with 1911s, and I'm kind of wanting to get a 30s now:scrutiny: 10+1 in the gun with another 13 on my belt. Sounds pretty good to me.

I should probably just get a G17 and call it a day, but I already have a couple of full size 9mms. A compact .45 might sway me, though;)

Only 357 Sig compact I could ever find was the 33 and I love it. Also have the 9mm conversion so it's a little cheaper to feed at the range.

I had a Glock 19 gen 3 and never shot it much, but it was always accurate and reliable. The grip wasn't very comfortable. I handled a Glock 17 gen 4 and loved the new smaller grip. I traded my 19 in on it and it is honestly one of the best shooting pistols I have. I'm still partial to revolvers and steel guns, but the Glock is in my night stand now. I put one of the cheaper protec nebo lights on it, and it has held up just fine through about 1500 rounds and fits the glock well.

Congrats on yer new gun. I was a certified hater of Glock and all polymer pistols until I shot everything I could get my hands on last Summer trying to find my preferred CC pistols. I now own a G26 and a G42. There's a G19 on deck but that'll be next Spring.

I love my Glocks. I get a little perplexed at some of the Glock Fan Boyz and the whole "Perfection" thing but they are dang fine weapons if they suit the shooter. They suit me just fine.

Thanks for all the input I shot this G23 again and I do really like, it just works for me really well.
I avoided Glocks for years but I sure like the G23 kool aid enough to pick up another someday, someone said once you get one they multiply what have I done
:eek::uhoh:

I'm in the same boat you are, JO JO. I never was drawn to glocks until my son bought a G21 gen 4 and let me shoot it. I now own a G23 gen 3 and use it as my edc. It's the perfect size for me and I feel like I can break it down and reassemble it in total darkness. That and it's tolerances make it an ideal close combat weapon for me. I gave it the 25 cent trigger job using just Flitz and a rag to polish the parts and not remove any serious metal, and that has smoothed the trigger to my liking. I shoot it strong and weak handed and the more I shoot it the more I like it. Pretty good koolaid if you ask me.

+1 - another Glock convert. Never cared for the way they felt in my hand, then heard about the Gen 4. Had been thinking a plastic gun might be nicer than steel for a leather motorcycle vest and sweat, so tried one out at a local range. Bought one on the spot. Not as accurate for me as my 1911, but good enough.

ya I really am happy with this I see I am not alone testing the dark side now to find a
good holster for it I just ordered a Safariland 7377 7TS ALS should get it next week :)

You made a great choice, the G23 was my first Glock a long time ago and it's still my favorite, and I've owned pretty much every model Glock. I have the newer Gen4 version now and it doesn't disappoint, love that gun.

My second favorite would be the Gen4 G21!

I got a primo Gen 3 G-23 and haven't shot it yet. Scared I might like it more than my FNX-40.

Don't knock it 'till you tried it, as the saying goes. They are ugly as sin, have the ergonomics of a brick, and honestly, past 50 feet with a box-stock Glock, you'd be better off with a shotgun for accuracy.

That said, Glocks are probably the best TOOLS on the market as far as handguns go. They go "bang" every time with good ammo, they put every round on a man-sized target at any typical handgun distance, and (my favorite thing about them) they are so simple that a mentally challenged monkey could maintain them.

I started off with a 1911. I was convinced that it was the be-all, end-all best handgun ever made, until on an impulse, I bought a very slightly used (copper lube still in it) G23. I found that what I used to dismiss as "German plastic crap" was easier to maintain and more reliable. Now, four years later, I've barely touched my 1911 in the last 3 years. I really want a CZ75/85, but I'm having to try to come up with a reason NOT to jump on the "just get a Glock" bandwagon...and I can't.
