NOT a gun shop rant!
This week a new gun shop opened up in Florence, SC. It's on Hwy 52, just off of I-95. Exit 164, I think? It's called Buffy's Sportsmans Paradise. I thought it was opening in another couple of weeks, but a friend told me it was open last night, so I stopped by at lunch today. Beautiful facility! They have stone and wood on the exterior, and cedar interior with plenty of fancy lighting.
I guess all gun shops start out that way, but the service was good. The guy behind the gun counter was friendly, and seemed knowledgable. And the prices on the guns were much better than the other gun shops around here. Most other sell standard 10-22 carbines for $235, his were $180. The Rock Island .45's were $300, as compared to $340 and up. The selection was pretty good, but they are a new store and still building inventory. For instance, they had Bushnell and Winchester scopes, and they had Swarovski scopes, but no Leupolds or other middle-price scopes. I'm sure it won't take them too long to fill the gaps in, though.
They didn't have any archery or reloading gear, though. He said the archery would be coming before too long, and the reloading was possible but not definite. Oh, well, can't have everything I guess.
We'll have to see if it gets better or worse. Hopefully it won't start going the way of pretty much every other gun shop around here. Any of y'all that are in this area, if you happen to be coming this way you should drop in and give it a look.
