Just received my renewal permit.Took only 6 calendar days mailbox to mailbox.
Now good for 5 years instead of 4 for $20.00.
No pictures,no fingerprints needed, and valid for most folks in over 20 states.
New Hampshire rocks! They got it right with their motto "Live Free or Die".:D

Alaska's is even quicker, cheaper, and it lasts longer.
As is Vermont's. :) (You will forgive me if moving to either state is more of an adjustment than I'm willing to make right now.;)) Still, if a right must be reduced to begging for a privilege, NH is about as good as it gets, I suppose.

When I got my permit in April of 2006, it took almost three weeks from the time I mailed in my paperwork to the time I received it. This was after taking an eight-hour class ($79) and a fee to the DPS ($65). At least it moved faster than the DMV when I bought my new car.
