Yesterday I finally decided to purchase that handgun I had been wanting for a while, so I walked into the gun shop with the intention of purchasing a CZ-75B. I had been trying various pistols at my local range, and after working my way through the XD, Glock, Sig, I found that (for me) the CZ was the most comfortable to shoot.

So at the counter, I notice the new CZ-75B tactical, and asked to see that one as well as the plain 75B I was intending to purchase. As CZ fans probably know, the Tactical sports a set of tritium sights, an accessory rail, a decocker on the rear which brings the hammer to half-cock, and a contoured grip. I didn't feel I had a need for the accessory rail, nor the tritium sights, as nice as they were. My rifles don't have decockers, so I didn't really see the point in having one in a pistol either. I felt that the really nice thing about the gun was the improved grips, as it fit slightly better in my hand than the original 75B. This wasn't really a big issue, as I was planning to put Hogue grips on the 75B for a better fit. While talking to the salesman, it turned out he had a 75B as well (with Hogue grips, as well!), and had bought his gun about a year and a half ago, before the Tactical came out. He liked what he had, but admitted if he was doing it over today, he would buy the Tactical instead.

After consideration, I decided the Tactical didn't offer anything that I personally needed, and returned it back to the salesguy. Then I filled out a purchase form, waited for the background check, and paid for the CZ. Unfortunately, this being Wisconsin, I have to wait 2 days before I can take delivery of my new CZ P-01.

:what:

Where'd that CZ-P-01 come from? :scrutiny: We were talking about a CZ 75B!

I'm not quite sure either. While talking to the salesman, he noted my comments about the grip on the Tactical and pulled out a P-01 for comparision. This gun just felt better in my hand than the original 75B, and as I shifted back and forth between the two, I just felt more comfortable picking up the P-01 for some reason. Darn CZ, they're building their guns with some strange type human magnetism built into them now. :D

Anyway. I'll pick up my new pistol on Tuesday morning, and find out whether I made the right decision in buying a gun that I haven't actually tried out yet. If I made a mistake, I can always buy a second CZ....

Congrats! Best gun I ever bought was my CZ75B 9mm. Youll enjoy it! I've been eyeballing the PCRs, and kick myself in the ass for not buying the used one at Cabelas for 350:banghead: Its either gonna be the PCR or the PO1, let us know how the first shoot goes. Heres a pic of my first shot, with my new CZ

I've had my CZ 75B for a few years now. It is no longer my favorite gun (I'm not knocking it in any way- I have a lot of guns now) but it is a good gun and I like it a lot. It is mostly reliable (a few bobbles in about 10K rounds isn't too big a deal), it is accurate, and it is ergonomically just about perfect. Fit and finish outside is as good as any, but the interior leaves a little to be desired (mine was made in the late 90s) and it is a little loose compared to something like my SIG 226 or SIG 229. They are good guns, the P01 you have is supposed to be the best of them where they really fixed some of the shortcomings.

I think you'll like it, just be careful...they tend to multiply.

Great gun, I had one and sold it in a moment of stupidity(yes i've had many of them:D).

One of these days I will pick up another CZ75, PCR and probably more CZ's.

I just put a CZ 75 B on lay away last week at a pawn shop. I can't wait to get it and probably will pick it up this weekend. It just came with te one mag.

Where is a good place to get accessories (mags, grips) for them?

@ Cowboy and flug:

You're going to hate me for this (or your wallets will), but check out this guy's grips:

This is the guy to go to for CZ grips, and I hear that his prices are far better than you'd think looking at his gorgeous grips...

My CZ-75B is my favorite pistol. It had reliability issues at one time, which I found out was due to old magazines. I own a Sig, Hi-Power and S&W automatic and I always go back to my CZ.
