Hi guys, I am just about to start reloading for my 243 ackley. I am a quite experienced reloader any way. I wonder if any of you guys have tried viht 160 with the round. I will be hoping to use Barnes 85gr triple shocks, although I might go up to a 90 gr bullet. 3 have some 243 win already loaded, should I usse them? Or should I pull them? Will the accuracy of standard rounds from the ackley chamber be ok?

Thanks

Ackley

"...should I use them?..." It'd give you fire formed AI brass. That can't be a bad thing.
The bullet weight will depend on your barrel's rifling twist. Fast twist for heavy bullets. 85 grains and up.
There's two AI loads on reloader's nest using N160. A Berger 68 grain and a Berger VLDS 95 grain bullet.
Barnes bullets need Barnes data. Solid copper bullets don't fly like a lead core bullet. No AI data on their site, but they do say to ask about other cartridges.

Been using a Speer 90 grain FMJ out of my .243 for years. Originally because I saw a red fox while hunting ground hogs that didn't know I was there. I was very new. I didn't know at the time that there was no season, up here. Had 75 grain HP's loaded anyway. Thought about hides even then. Didn't take the shot. Naturally, I haven't seen one since. Anyway, the 90 grain FMJ makes a puncture wound in a ground hog. No exit wound either. Surprised me too. The distance wasn't very far. Less than 100.
