I just received a K31 through Aim Surplus and must say that they delivered well above expectations. On a scale of 1-10, my rifle was a solid 8. I have just started collecting surplus rifles and have a few of them. My question concerning my K31 is this. Did the Swiss manufacture stocks well ahead of receiver production? In any case sll serial numbers match and are stenciled/embosed into the wood, foregrip and receiver. I reference the serial number and found out it was made in 1941, yet the Roman numerals on the stock, under the butplate indicat the it was made in September of 1937. Am I crazy here or did the Swiss aquire the wood to make the stock and hold on to it for 4 years prior to assembling the weapon?,or is it refurbished. Again there are no additional import markings on the weapon that I can locate, although I have yet to completely disassemble the rifle fully. I did find a couple of markings under the charging handle that were ( cv+c which I found out were canton markings for an area in switzerland, there is an additional marking above those which looks like a circle with an airplane looking symbol inside of it, an help would be great, and yes it did come with a one of those pieces of plastic paper under the buttstock. "I'm still working on referencing that one" I'd appreciate the help.
