got a Kimber Ultra Carry II stainless today. I hope it is reliable because I do want to put it into the CCW rotation. It is small, light, comfortable. Plain to start the vetting process tomorrow with 250 rounds of five different loads with five different bullet types. If that goes well, will move on to the reliability test with 500 rounds of the carry ammo. Wish me luck.
p.s. anyone put a Kimber magwell mainspring housing on one of these? I am thinking I will do that. Already put some walnut slabs on it as the black rubber is just too industrial for me.

Congrats on the new gun. Good luck with it.

I bought the same pistol about two months ago. It is easy to carry, easy to conceal. When I first got it I tried a couple different loads. I had 4 or 5 failure to feeds, but after 100 or so rounds I haven't had another. I have about 500 rounds through it now and I feel confident in it.

Have completed 550 rounds in mine (Ultra Crimson Carry II)...Definately do the breakin they recommend.

Had four failures in the first 57 magazines fired (5 rounds per mag)

First mag---Slide locked back on third round
Seventh mag---Smoke stack last round.
Nineth mag---Failure to feed last round.
Fifty-seventh mag---Failure to go to battery.

I've completed 250+ without a failure at this time...Definately a FUN handgun...

Good to hear all of the comments and info.
I am going to keep the factory grips. I always keep factory parts.
I am very interested to see what the recoil will be like and how fast I can recover for subsequent shots. It will should be a fun gun to shoot IDPA with.

Ordered the blued steel mainspring housing with magazine well bevel off Ebay last night. May get yet another set of grips. After that I am done!

My CDP II has never failed from round one using Wilson and Kimber Pro-Tac mags. I have shot all kinds of bullet styles and weights through it. I am not as good about record keeping as The Bushmaster, so I don't have an exact round count. A keeper for sure. :)

One more interesting set of facts.

Kimber advertises the UCII as 25ozs with empty magazine.

My old Baikal Makarov 380 weighs 25ozs with empty magazine!

AND, they both fit just fine in the same holster I had made years ago for a Star Firestar M45 ...

I'm a bug fan of the Ultra Kimbers, have four.
All mine have been reliable and extremely accurate. (My carry choice)

Yesterday and a couple days ago I was shooting the Ultra Covert II. My Covert shoots a little high close up (7-15 yards) but is right on at 50 yards.

I have Wilson mags but yesterday I grabbed six random magazines. With repeated use they all worked 100%.

Now this is fun shooting, but almost boring because the gun just doesn't miss.:)
50 yards. Standing, two hands. No misses.

m2 carbine, nice guns!
I shot mine last night. 260 rounds of handloads using 4.0grs bullseye and five different lead bullets: lyman 452374, lyman 452374hp, H&G 68SWC, H&G 78SWC and RCBS 45-201SWC. Used two Wilson mags and one Kimber mag.
Accuracy is phenomenal! Sights are regulated very well both vertically and horizontally. I had no problem keeping almost all shots on a 4-inch sticker at 20 yards offhand unsupported.
Reliability was near 100 percent with just two failures to go into battery near the 200 round mark using the H&G 78 wadcutter, which is a short OAL cartridge. I am VERY satisfied. I am seriously considering getting the Springfield Armory competing model just to have one of this tpe from both makers since I do like both brands quite a bit.

I'm glad you like it.:)

Funny story.
A couple years ago I gave a friend a 45ACP EAA Witness Compact. He had wanted a 45 but with four kids, two starting college, he wasn't going to afford a new gun for a while, so I gave him the Witness. The witness is a reliable and accurate gun and he was tickeled with it.

Last year he and I were shooting and he was doing pretty good with the Witness. I said try this and I handed him my Kimber Compact Custom (4 inch) and a couple magazines.
He shot a real nice group, better that he normaly does.

He stood looking at the gun for a minute then said, "You know, I always thought you were a good shot but now I see it's your Kimbers".:D

That is a funny story, but you blew your cover!
My Concealco holster came today.
