A few of my friends and I bought M44's and they came in separate boxes. Mine and Mike's look like yours, the other 2 have about 70% of the bluing left. We also bought a case of ammo to divide between the four of us. I got mine free for stripping and cleaning all the rifles, packed in cosmoline.
I got a good deal on a 1946 M44 a while back. The metal on it was very nicely blued and not a mark on it like Sarduy's carbine but the stock was painted with some brown paint that was chipping off by the bucket. The whole thing was covered in cosmo so I guess it came from Russia like that. An hour with some paint stripper, 3 days sitting in the hot Texas sun in a black trash bag, and a few coats of BLO and it is now a fantastic looking carbine that can shoot 2'' at 100 yards all day long. Its amazing what you can find under a mess of cosmo.
Thanks for responding. I already buy cases of mil surp ammo. I'm inquiring about rifles. How many do you need to buy to get the discount? Does this work for SKS? Looks like I might be getting my first Russian rifle in the very near future.
Wacki, it'll vary, but you can get those prices on mosins if you buy around 5 or more rifles, it helps the price if they are counterbored, but that may alter accuracy. Online gun places sometimes do deals on shipping for bulk orders as well.
I bought some 91/30's they were selling 5 for $250 from century arms. Alright condition, front top handguards had marks and they were counter bored, but thats about all that was bad.
If you contact a dealer they will probably cut you a deal if you purchase 3 or more of most guns...the more you buy the lower the price. I am not promising that you will get a better price, but you might be able to talk them down with some SKS's.
