Howdy all

My name is Matt, I live in the Southern Tier of New York, and though I've hunted most of my (as of now) short life, I only just got into the guns themselves, and i was told this was the site to go to. I don't have any real preference to a certain type of gun, though i do have a love of the 7.62x39 Russian round.

Hi all,
I just joined today and have been reading all day long, great posts! I am retired and a 39A should be arriving this week at one of the local gunshops, and then there is the approx. three month wait for the license to be issued. :>(( I live in Windhoek Namibia in Africa
(great hunting country) It was very difficult to source a Marlin in Southern Africa, seems lever action is not popular at all. At 66 years old i will be starting with rifles agn after 40 odd years.

Hello.

The Goose here. Ive had an interest weapons since I was very young. I had the great benefit of living overseas as a child, sometimes in dangerous places, guns and personal protection were an everyday part of life.

My interest rose dramatically after waking up to an armed intruder in my bedroom while working in Mayor Daly's great city of Chicago.

Since leaving I have put together a nice quiver of handguns and long guns. I am also interested in ww2 weaponry.

Hi,

I am fairly recent to shooting. Saw Jim Chambers making a flintlock rifle at the Houston NRA show and fell in love with BP muzzleloading. Shoot mostly muzzleloaders but got a Baby Eagle 45 that is a dream to shoot. Tried the Ruger LCP but it's too small for me and seemed inaccurate. Good for in close, I suspect. Shoot a Brown Bess but it's hard to aim or hit over 25 yards. Love flinters. Seems about 50 percent can't stand the pan flash and the rest don't notice it. Nice to find a site with fellow American enthusiasts.

Hi

HI lets see. I like target shooting and reloading. I rifle and bow hunt in the wilderness areas of Washington state, and I enjoy accurizing military surplus rifles mostly the Mosin Nagant . oh and I like reading THR posts. :)

Hi all, I found this site after researching a purchase of a Star model PD 45. The post from flightsimmer about this weapon was very helpful. I've never been on a site like this but I think I'ts good for information sharing for weapon holders. I'm looking forward to learning how this site works.

Been to the site a few times, thought I would finally register and say hello. Great forum love reading it. Former USMC, from Vegas originally. In case it matters, I carry a Glock 27. I prefer a little more fire power than the 9mm....not saying there is anything wrong with a 9mm :).

First time I've been in this thread for a while. (Been on the road a lot.)

Just read a couple of pages of introductions.
Great to see new members. Welcome to you all.

Nice to see folks from other countries here, too. France and South African caught my eye.

Eyebe, since you're interested in the Marlin 39, and have ordered one,
be sure to check out the Marlin 39 club in rifle country.

New guy here, retired civil service out of the AGT 1500 program at Fort Riley KS, moved south of St Louis MO for various reasons. Like to shoot all sorts, 14 1/2 years military in the 7th Infantry and Kansas National Guards, medical discharge. Piddling around in my shop now powdercoating stuff and working up some aluminum triggers for the Hi Point brand of firearms to keep myself busy.

Write fantasy novels, still not making any money off them but keep plugging away at them. I write for myself, not as a means of making a living, so I can write the stories how I want, lol!

New guy from California

Hello Everyone,

I've been lurking for a while and decided to join. I'm not a gun collector. I see firearms as tools. At least for now, I only buy firearms if they fit a need. Maybe later when all my needs are taken care of, I'll consider buying something just because it's fun. Money is tight and self defense situations seem to become more likely so I need to act accordingly.

I've found a lot of great information here and I hope to contribute soon.

Hello everyone,

I just found this site and think it is the one for me. So many other sites get very ugly politically, personally and get caught up in reputation point wars. I'm not into all that, personally.

I have been shooting since I was 7 with BB guns and wrist-rockets and shortly after turning 21 I got my first handgun, a Taurus .357. Since then I have owned several handguns, shotguns and a few rifles. Currently I am really enjoying a new Ruger 9mm and look forward to learning more about my passion and making some friends in the process.

Thanks for letting me join and I'll see you on the board.

New from ND

Hi all,

I'm new to the site, seems like a great place to read/learn/discuss guns. I'll likely read more than contribute, so thanks in advance! I hunt, carry, and punch paper. Thanks for having me.

New Member in Missouri

Hi, I'm Hal from Missouri.

I have a sweet spot for the SKS, even though it's not the best rifle in the world. I also love my M&Pc 40, my 1911, my Remington 870 Express...

You get the idea.

Good to be on here. :)

i'm a father of three, 24 years old. joined THR by hearing about it form a fellow firearms enthusiast. (dustyvermonter) i live in Vermont on private property. i've owned a few different firearms over the years. shotguns, a few 22's, and a few other odds and ends. nothing very high quality. but i'm in the market for a 1911 doesn't really matter on brand. but if anyone has anything to get rid of by selling or trade. hit me up. i'm pretty new to THR and i don't know yet how to start a thread so i've just been checking out other peoples threads. but i'm pretty friendly and i'm not here to argue with people. everyone has their own opinions and that's fine by me. but i am up for friendly discussion

Not so new a member here, been on since 2008 but just noticed that I never introduced myself. Tim McChesney from south eastern PA (near but not to close to Philly). I'm originally from western PA, hence my love of the Steelers! Retired after 20 years and 21 days on active duty in the Air Force back in 2004, now work as a logistics supervisor for an E911 company. Married with no kids, I do however love kids and rent my sister-in-laws kids on a regular basis. Been around guns since I can remember, hunted since I was 12 and have just recently gotten into reloading. I check this site out and PAFOA on a regular basis. Lots of good info and reading to be had at both sites. Look forward to many more years on here......

New here, but not new to the whole gun game and I often am over on ARFCOM. Shoot a bit of everything and am about to pick up a service grade M1 from the CMP.

Hello all! I stumbled upon THR this afternoon and thought I'd see what we're all about. I've been a gun guy as long as I've been around. Most of my exposure has been a matter of following rabbit trails of personal interests, whether plinkers, hunting rifles, or self defense weapons. I came across a thread when researching holsters for CCW. I'm a leather worker and have been playing with the idea of making a iwb fbi cant horse hide holster. One trait that I desire ,but, am not sure how to accomplish is the metal mouth brace so re holstering is possible. I'm wide open to suggestions or even a quick shout about what you like or dislike about your carry rig. A bit more about me... I'm a freedom loving law abiding Nevada born man that has moved to Seattle, WA, to carve out my path. Not much of a city guy, but, a man who does not work does not eat. I'd love to chat with others in WA. One other area of interest to me is the laws surrounding the use of, whether for sport or self defense, guns. I've found a great deal of info online but I'm not sure where to begin searching for the laws surrounding when it is justifiable to use deadly force and whether the city laws preempt state etc. Well I look forward to learning what I can from you and sharing what I know.
