Breaking up collections.

Hi, I'm a 68 year old retiree from SE Pennsylvania/Eastern Shore MD area, now living in St Pete, FL. I am trying to unload a lot of stuff I inherited and collected over the years. I have a lot of old gun catalogues, pamphlets, and books; also pocket knife, tool, and car catalogues. I have some decoys from the 40s, old pipes and other "guy stuff".

I'd like input on how to divest all this. I've taken up kayaking and fly fishing and have boxes of things all around the condo I no longer need. If you have any input or interest, Email me directly: [email protected] or respond through the forum. Thanks,
Bill

Hello from Central Kentucky. New here. Retired last year. We have 5.5 acres where we shoot, and will soon set-up a 25/50 yard range. Love .45, shoot a lot of .22 recently. I have begun replacing guns that I sold in my younger years, and regret selling. Thanks for membership.

I've been browsing for a few years and never joined up. I'm trying to trade off for a new pistol though, so I had no choice. ;)

Hello, I'm not sure if I introduced myself, yet. I'm a college student, and currently a proud owner of a Ruger 10/22 and more recently a 1930 Mosin Nagant and a Polish milled Receiver AK.

oh hai guise, the last few days I've really come to terms with the fact that I like guns. I like looking at them, holding them, and shooting them. Unfortunately I have to balance this love of guns with an even stronger love of money, and as a result all I have is a hi point 9mm, a cheap holster, and bout 50 rounds of practice with it. Hopefully this site can give me advice on where to find the cheapest and best guns and how to get practice in inexpensively.

ya - one thing about taking on guns as a hobby is they ain't cheap! Those hi points are very inexpensive - I've heard they shoot pretty good but how long will they last?

well they come with a lifetime warranty so as long as anything that happens to it are covered by it, I guess it will last the life of the company. most of the reviews on them said they were pretty reliable, the main complaints seem to be about low mag capicity and that they are just ugly. The mag capacity is why I am looking to add to my armory.

Beck1,

I think if you consider everything together this hobby is not out of line expense-wise compared to most others. I've been heavily involved in radio controlled model aircraft for 36 years and it's easy to drop $2K on an airframe not including electronics, doo-dads and support equipment. As far as recurring expenses go, ammo does cost but picture yourself driving one of those $2K+ goodies into the ground and having to start over. I have.:banghead: Model airplanes are no good for home defense either..........unless you leave them laying around the house at night where an intruder can trip over them and break their neck. A scenario often suggested by my wife. :D

Quick Intro

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 30 some Corrections Officer in the Florida area. I have been lurking this site for sometime and finally decided to join. I have gained some good info from you guys and hope to continue and also share my knowledge and experience.

Hello All, Figured I would introduce myself after posting a small amount of posts already. I am relatively new to the hobby of target shooting and plinking but have really enjoyed getting to know the culture and absorbing the vast amount of information associated with firearm maintenance, operation, and training.

I look forwards to learning more about this hobby that I plan to continue for years to come.

Hi, Y'all! I joined up here yesterday and got distracted by some interestin' topics. I've been shooting for around 45 yrs, used to do a lil' competition stuff, and have yet ta find out how many guns are "enough". :D

I'll carve out some time ta hang out and post some things of interest or at least make some comments. Thanks fer havin' me around.

I'm a new member and look forward to learning and sharing info with you guys. I am mostly into C&R guns but my interest continues to grow into the modern gun field.

Hello from France

I'm 40, quite a "young" shooter because I've only been in shooting for 5 years. Even if I tried quite a few guns during this short amount of time, I kept only one couple : Glock, and .45acp caliber.

Glock because I found this gun not too expensive (Can't say "cheap", because in France, guns are expensive, whatever you buy plastic or steel) and reliable.

.45acp because I love it. A cartridge like an old V8 muscle car.

So, unfortunately, I don't have a lot to share with you ;)

I reload, too, using Dillon RL550 + dillon, redding and lee dies.

Hi All! Just joined and am new to firearms. Dad was a local competitive shooter but I never took it up. For a variety of reasons I'm looking forward to developing a new skill set and push my own improvement by learning to shoot well and safe. I've lurked for a bit and figured that I'll learn more by contributing than just reading. Good to be here.

Hello. My name is Stephan. I have very recently started getting into this weapon thing and have grown addicted to it. A few months ago my wife's grandfather told us that we should think about getting our CWP just incase our president tries to take it away. Whether I will carry or not. He also said to join the NRA. My wife and I since then have done both. I also in the meantime purchased a Remington 870 shotgun, Spikes Tactical AR and a Ruger Sr1911. I think I am officially addicted. Years ago I shot in IPSEC competions with my step dad. He was at one point ranked in the top 50 in the world. He used to be a Army Ranger. He is a little older now, lol however i dont joke to him about how hes gotten up in age he would still kick my butt and out shoot me anyday. I sell exotic and luxury cars for a local dealership on eBay and other websites. I have been in car business for 17 years, half my life. I am married with a 5 year old daughter. I am a proud American and Love my lord and savior. I have been refered to this forum by a long time member who has been extremly helpful to me and it very knowlegable as I ask alot of questions and want to learn as much as possible. thank you for having me

A First

Well, this is my first forum, figured I'd come here with my questions instead of being lost on google or the such. I'm somewhat new to the gun world, but I know my stuff. I own a Glock 22 for self defense/carry, a Daniel Defense/BCM/Doublestar built AR-15, a couple Mosins, a Maverick 88 12 ga., a Steyr M95 and my first gun- the Makarov 9x18. I love all my guns, even though they may have mostly been cheap; they are all reliable and I'm sure I'll never sell any of them(mainly because whats worth its weight isn't worth enough to sell).

Hey from Wyoming

I have learned much from this forum and now am joining to participate and maybe add a bit. I have hunted all my life and enjoyed shooting. I am trying to recover from a VERY unsuccessful back surgery and 2 others over the past 5 years. While down I made a long range gun for varmit and target shooting. It is 6mm-284 on a Lawton barreled action set to shoot 1000+ yards. Since I can not walk far enough yet to work the gun I moved to pistols. I have various pistols but purchased a Kimber pro raptor 45 acp and am Hooked! I have just received a Wilson Combat frame and slide to work on! It should keep my excitement and frustration levels high! I am also helping a friend and his oldest children outfit with concealed carry and practice pistols. I tune and upgrade our firearms and reload for the practice sessions. The effort to help him has been very rewarding and I have learned a great deal that will help me protect my family.
