Hello everyone,
I am located in Orlando, FL and have discovered my second admendment rights once again. I only have one rifle left and haven't touched it in over 17 years. Since I am close to retirement age but want to keep working for my medical benefits I decided to get back into shooting for the social atmosphere and exercise. I would like to give IDPA a try so I need to put together a list of items needed. I've already signed up to the NRA and the next membership is IDPA. I need everything from hearing muffs to a vest. My list is pretty Big so far and I know it will cost some dollars for everything. My problem or the biggest headache so far is deciding on a caliber then mfgr/model of a pistol. Revolvers are out, I want a pistol but which one? My heart was set on my favorite, a 1911 variant of some sort but I keep hearing 9mm or a 40SW. Oh well I Love being an American and all the choices we have.

Not really new, but I own You the update...I guess. Hanging around since 2004, last post in 2007 written from Poland. Currently in Alberta, Canada. We immigrated in 2008 and settled down near the Rockies. Love it here. Hopefully between my job, new house and volunteering with Search and Rescue I will find time to post again. Thanks. Adam (known also as Nestor for some people out there).

Hello From New Member!

I am hoping to see a lot of tactical and long range precision
shooting type threads here on TFL. I really admire the skill
of our U.S. military snipers and their allies from other nations.
Any comments are welcome so I can get to know you all. I
my in my early fifties and have been a shooting sports enthus-
iast since before grammar school. I look forward to your posts.

Thank you,

Thanks for the Welcome

I'm a New Jersey shooter (yes, NJ; we value our rights because we have experienced an emotional and uneducated opposition). I am lucky enough to belong to a club that has something for everyone.
Having said that, I'm eager for advice from the members about AR-15 rifles and carbines. These days at the range I have to dedicate an hour or so to the muzzleloader--fall is on its way. I spend the rest of the long gun time on trying to improve with iron sights. If I had a question for the membership, it would be about 5.56 weight and barrel twist.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi everybody! I'm new to this as well. I live in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. I've been hooked to firearms ever since my mom and dad presented me with my first one on the day of my high school graduation. It was a Ruger New Model Single Six convertible. I have obtained several more over the years, thanks to my dad and for successful deals that I have made over time. I'm more into hand guns than anything but love firearms in general. Have a great day everyone!

Hello Burn EM Up,
Your post sounds just like mine, I was a union Pipefitter and managed to retire at the age of 62 from a large Papermill (upiu)and for 32 years I was crew leader and run the Fab shop Fabricating all kinds of industrial Piping and Loved it. Lots of fun Fabricating
large sections of pipe and it fit like a glove. Just drop a gasket in it. Now we shoot Bullseye compitition with .22 and .45 and Loving every minute of it. All for now

Hello Everyone! FNG here, checking in. Lurked around a bit this morning and decided to join. NRA life member, MSI member, C&R license holder, and MD designated collector.

I just found this site about 5 minutes ago. I got my first Stevens 20 ga. single shot when I was 16 yrs. old and am now 72. I've been collecting guns since my first one. My oldest one is an 1899 Remington pump 22, then an identical looking rifle make in 1900. I haven't bought any new ones for quite awhile as I live in Il. and have had the FOID card since it's inception and now suddenly I'm having trouble getting it renewed.

Hi all. I'm Monte and have been eading articles on this forum for a while. There are some really smart people here who have impacted my life to the good in ways they will never know.
Have several pistols (mostly Glock and Sig) but have also inherited a couple very old shotguns from great-grandparents and great uncles. Still researching one of my favorites, it is a magazine fed, bolt action 20 gauge. Very few markings on it but a very nice weapon.
Anyway, thanks for the existance of this forum and the knowledge all so freely provide.

New boy

Hi All,

New guy on the Forum. My name's Alistair and I live in sunny Durban, South Africa.

Currently I have a few black powder rifles (Pedersoli Rolling Block, CVA Electra and Traditions Pursuit Ultralight) Black powder shotguns (Pedesoli SxS 12ga and Cogswell and Harrison Damascus Barrel breech loader). I also own a Miroku SxS 12ga - which I'm busy getting a license for (painful licencing procedures here). Oh yes and a Target Airrifle (Hammerli AR20) which I shoot field target with.

Hunting is mainly Blesbok and Bush Pig/Warthog and wingshooting when I can get it. (Guinea Fowl and Francolin).

That's it I think!

Newbie

Hi all found this site yesterday while I was trying to find info on a rifle that I acquired in a trade. After much research I think I have it narrowed down to a Czech Kar98k 8mm manufactured in Brno except that the stock doesn't match. I look forward to learning from all of you as this journey continues.

I enjoy hunting, target shooting (back yard plinking) plus I am a history buff. My Dad served as a Marine in WWII so I am just a little geeked to think I might have a bit of history in my home.

Thanks in advance to any and all that may offer their assistance.:)

Welcome to all our new members. Make sure to read over the rules, but above all have a great time. We have specific forums for all kinds of firearms so placing your questions in the right forum will provide you with tons of information. I hope. Again, welcome!

I found this forum a few days ago whilst searching for advice for a recently acquired revolver (my first), and it seems that it's an excellent resource. I'm in the UK and mostly interested in BP target shooting, although I have a more modern (French 1886 M93) rifle on order as well.

Currently owned: ASM Colt Walker, Pedersoli Brown Bess.

Hi, I'm new the forum. I'm a progressive who has has transformed his views -- slowly -- about guns and gun rights. I continue to do more research and familiarize myself with the entire gun rights community. I don't own any weapons, and I have never fired a weapon in my life. But my perspective is changing...

New here

I am into hunting first and foremost. I like accurate rifles and do lots of shooting/reloading. I spend too much money on guns, gun gadgets and hunting equipment. My son's middle name is Ackley.....that should give you an idea of how much of a gun nut I am!
