Just got my two new Milt Sparks Versa-Max2 holsters for my Kimber Ultra Carry II and Tac Pro II. Very high quality and they really feel like they fit.

Cererus..............congrats on your VM-2.

How long did it take you to get it and did you get the kydex tuckable clips as well? If so, how are they? What are you carrying in your VM-2?

I've got a VM-2 on order with the tuckables. I'm anxious to get it but it'll probably be another 7 weeks or more.

I'll second the VM-2's. I have one for my Kimber Pro Carry HD and just picked up a 2nd for my Taurus M85. Got one pair of clips, I found they work much better with the lighter M85 than the 1911.

If you want Milt Sparks product in a hurry, go to www.lightingarms.com. They try to keep a stock of Sparks products in inventory. They charge a little more than if you order direct, but that is fine for those of us in a hurry. I have ordered a number of holsters from them and usually get them within 3 days. (I have no financial or other interest in this company, just a satisfied customer).

If you are in a hurry, just call them and talk to Craig or Audrey -- they are fine people and WILL make you a happy camper!

Egg--

Thank you for the kind words.

cerberus--

Congratulations on your new Milt Sparks products, and it is Lightning not Lighting.

Regards,

Craig & Audrey

Just cheep with a mis guided sense of value I think.

I think $25 to have it now instead of two months from now is cheep. Heck, I'll burn 10 times that ammount in ammo just getting comfortable with a new gun.

I havent purchased a holster since LASports has been in business but if I ever decide to change carry weapons I'll order by Sparks holster from them so that I'll have the holster before the cooling off period is finished.

I don't know about the cooling off thing hope it works out.

In California you get to wait 10 days to pick up your purchase so they have time to run a background check (even if you buy it with a CCW permit which demands clear background), and for you to "cool off" in case you're inclined to murder someone with your new purchase (even if you already have a safe full of guns and happened to walk into and out of the store with a loaded concealed one on your hip).

California Oh Yeah

I used to live in sunny California left in 69. And I am glad I got out of that cuacaracha infested over taxed stupid auto and gun laws State. Oh yeah now I get it you live in California your used to getting shafted.

geez, chill out. This is THR, we try to be friendly to each other here.

To some people, several months of their time is worth $20 or so.

To others, they'd rather have the cash.

It's all a matter of personal preference. No reason to lambast a vendor that is gracious enough to give you the option to choose.

VM-2s are great, I just have no use for the tuckable option, so I'm a big fan of Gary Brommeland's Max-Con V holsters. They're like Milt Sparks' Watch Six holsters. I don't think I'd be trading my Max-Con V for a Watch Six, though. I love it too much. I have no use for the reinforced mouth so it's the way to go for me. (i want the gun flat as possible, and quick reholstering is less of a priority than concealment and comfort to me)

Agreed, chill man.

Chip Dixon -- I too have no use for the tuckable option, but otherwise the VM2 is just about right for me. I also have a Watch Six, but I find that I usually use the VM2. The thin Watch Six is great, but I just seem to like the more substantial feel of the VM2 (isn't having a choice great!), with a fairly heavy full-sized gun. I hear good things about Brommeland's holsters from others as well as you, and may try one eventually -- he is certainly on my list of holster makers to consider in the future.

Cerberus:

LASports is indeed a vendor and they provide a service -- getting the product to you faster than you can order direct -- for that they get a fee. Just like any other service, if you want it, pay for it. If you don't want it, don't pay for it.

I mentioned them simply because some people don't like to wait 2 - 3 months direct ordering from Sparks (like ME!). So to me the service is worth it, but I freely concede that it is not for everyone. It does not bug me if you don't mind the wait -- have at it. I don't know why it seems to bother you that I choose to do it another way? If you are worried about me wasting the money, your concern is appreciated, but not necessary.

Craig and Audrey's service is an OPTION. The more options, the better!

How do these holsters stand up to body oils and sweat in the summer?

I carry a Para-Ordnance P13, and have been looking for a good IWB for it. Also, what's the max belt width the loops will take?

Finally, can someone describe the function of the tuckable clips?

Thanks!

I can't speak to the Brommeland, only the Sparks.

I have the VM2 in both cow and horse, and both hold up just fine in Texas summers (it does get hot and sweaty down here!).

I know that Sparks will do at least 1 3/4" and probably whatever size you want on the belt loops. They are interchangeable on the VM2, so you could actually order multiple sizes if you need them.

The tuckable clips replace the loops and give you a place to tuck your shirt tail in, between your pants and the outside of the hoster, if you are one of those that prefer or have to have the "tucked-in" look. I have never used them, as I just use a banded bottom polo shirt or camp shirt. Of those that I have talked to who have used the tuckable clips, some think they are great, some have no use for them == just personal preference I guess.

Thank you

I appreciate your taking the time to answer.

Based on your recommendations and my own investigation, I now have a VM-2 in black cowhide (the backs on all MS holsters are horse hide, BTW - better sweat protection evidently) on order for my P-O.

It should be here sometime in August, which is fine for me - for the summer I'm still carrying the Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact.

Thanks again!

You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy your holster -- I don't know of anyone that has one that has not liked it!

<Sheepish look>

I let myself get talked into a D4C dual mag pouch as well. . .. nothing like walking around with 40 rounds of.45 on your belt. . . .. . .

YOU sir, are a BAD BAD influence.
