My baby is all original and I have a Lyman peep sight on her now. Have original sights. She shoots great. Has normal wear and tear but the barrel is perfect (pre microgroove and cross bolt). I'm a few days from 65 and need to add a scope.
What Picatinny mount should I use and suggestions of scope would be nice as well.
I shoot long range and I know this is not a long range gun.
New to the site so I'm sure I've broken a few rules to which I apologize.
I'm a reloader and shoot a wide variety of rifles and handguns. I have several WWII and I rifles I've restored and shoot.
Looking forward to being an active member.

Mine is a 55, and I just used the Weaver mount and a 1"tube 3x9 Old steel Weaver
Thanks for replying. Can you post a picture? What power scope are you using? Please let me know when I step over the line or break a rule. I tend to do that and I like this site.

Price is not an issue when I'm adding something to this gun. Even though it's not the one that was given to me when I was 8, it floods me with memories that I have long forgotten. I'm far from wealthy but I want the best for her so, upper shelf is what I looking for. My life is on a bit of a timer and I want to enjoy this and a few other guns as much as possible. This will be one that I take every time I go shoot. It may be with a RP 6.5 or CZ Shadow 2 but it will be the main go to on those days.
I know it's not as expensive as the guns I have but it's priceless to me. It took a long time to find one complete and close to the year of the one I had, but I did and she's a shooter too.
Sorry, I tend to ramble. Again, thank you for letting me join this group. Thanks to the mods, owner and the members. I will do my best to add to the conversation when I think I can be helpful. Right now, I'm going to learn from those of you with knowledge and skills related to the 39 a.

I have an old Tasco 3-9 on mine, works fine for plinking. Have considered upgrading over the years, just never have. I have scopes laying around that would work, I really need to just do it.

The last scope I bought for a good .22 was the Leupold Rimfire 2-7x.
Parallax is set for shorter range and it is in about a 4x tube to look better on a rimfire.

You may want a strap on comb pad for a scope on a lever action's crooked stock.

I’d do this too and I would definitely get a rail.

For an optic I’d go with a Leupold VX-Freedom 2-7x33 Rimfire or a Clearidge Ultra RM EFR 3-9x32 AO.
Going with Leopold or Sightron. Both have great glass and good reticles

My dad "borrowed" my Leupold 4x gold ring scope for his model 39 like ten years ago, don't think I am getting it back.

I mounted a Vortex Cossfire II 2-7 X 32 Rimfire on my 39A. So far I really like it. I'm a Vortex fan and for $120 I think it's a good value
