I just got a new Para Slim Hog 3" 45 ACP 1911 yesterday. There's not a lot of info, good or bad, on the web, so thought I'd give my experience.

I really like the looks of this gun, and concealing in a belt slide is very easy. I have a 5" Kimber and like it very much, but don't like having to wear a mini-skirt length cover garment to hide the long barrel.

Anyway, I went to the range with some WWB 230gr ball and Federal Hydrashock 230 HP's. The only failure in 250 rounds was not stripping the first round off the full magazine a couple of times. Other than that, no FTF's and no FTE's. Very accurate and hit POA or maybe 1" high at 7 and 15 yards off hand. I found it quite easy to control and follow up shots were quite quick. It jumps a bit more than the 5" but not bad.

Well there you have it. I know 250 rounds isn't all telling, but, after my initial apprehension with a short barreled 1911, I'm very happy with my new purchase.

With any new pistol I throw 300-400 rounds down range just to break it in. After that I start to try different ammo to see what it likes. Sure is fun ain't it?

Thanks for the report. I have wondered about the Slim Hog. Reliability on a 3" 1911 type pistol is frequently an issue, so your input is worthwhile. After about 400-500 rounds maybe it will be a keeper with just about anything you feed it.

Regards,
