Do any of you have any experience with the new stainless version of the ROSSI 454, WITH REMOVABLE MAGAZINE TUBE FOR loading and unloading? With various loads 454/45 COLT.

Mine's not stainless but I load it through the mag tube all the time with both .454 and .45 loads.

Are you having some kind of issue?

I wasn't aware that Rossi made one with the removable mag tube and had to check it out. My question is, what purpose does it serve to have the loading gate and mag tube together? I mean, if that's what you like go for it, but it's just a bit confusing to me.

Wow. I didn’t realize that Rossi was making the R92 in 454 again. Can’t find this removable tube magazine on their site. But I am very interested in a 20” stainless in 454!

Never really liked the 'loading through the tube' thing on the .22 rifles we used for the Junior Program guns; much preferred the muzzle be pointed somewhere else than near the kid's face.
But for emptying a tubular magazine, being able to 'dump' the mag contents seems a better idea than having to crank the live rounds through the action.

Not sure when they started back up, but a couple reviews also stated the tube mag is screwed into the receiver too, and that makes sense, with the power generated by the 454 round.
when I looked at their site, was listed along with the new Marlin look a like 30-30. I wish they would make that with the removable mag tube, so the loads could be dumped out instead of cranking
rounds thru the receiver

Personally I’ve never cared for the 454 in revolvers or rifles. My preference is the 480 Ruger. A friend has a Rossi 480 carbine which I have been trying to pry it loose, but, I’m giving up. Ron says he wants to take a moose with it before first. He will call me if he ever decides to part with it.
The 480 is a great cartridge, but the chances are slim to none of Rossi producing them again.

Not confusing, handy for unloading without jacking through the action. Some people like that

Well
saw one on gunbroker, but you would have to check that out. Since I am not interested in that model, can not remember if it was new or used
yeah my understanding is that they only made 100 480’s so the price is up there where I cannot afford anymore. When and if Ray wants to sell I can work a part trade with him.

I purchased a new Rossi R 92 454 CASULL, THAT SHOOTS 45 COLT JUST FINE. According to Rossi they did away with the tube loading and unloading as a design change, I think was just cheaper to make.
But the 454 also has the tube to screw into the frame instead of pressed in as the pressures are much greater.

The tube load/unload thing is not exactly new. It has been on 454 Rossi’s in the past and was a feature (or a bug) on all 100 Rossi 92 480 Rugers that were produced.

Screw in tube would have been a big deal for the 24 inch 44 mag . Magazine over half full hammered the tube out from recoil. I made an aluminum insert for the tube end for a screw down with the cap screw. Long ago.

There, fixed it. :) Show me ( ^^^^^ ) said similar. I've never had the tube come adrift in a .44 Mag Marlin '94, nor in a number of '92s, but it does puzzle me what holds such things together.
Had it down to a system, on that '94, if you let the rounds out of the magazine the same way you let them in, with the round holding the loading gate out of the way. Haven't managed that on the Winchesters.

Far as I know they were always like that. Mine is and it's not a feature I want in a levergun. If I'm hunting with one, I'll just pop the round out of the chamber but leave the magazine loaded. Or leave the chamber loaded. Don't know why people make such a big deal out of unloading them.

I haven't really shot it enough to answer the OP's question. It does feed and function with Buffalo Bore 360's, which answered my most pressing questions.

The Rossi 30-30s will unload the mag tube by pressing down on the loading gate and the round will "pop" out one by one.

Loading is push down gate push in round.
Unloading is push down gate pull out round.

truth is at my age and I am 73, my brothers and I grew up with Marlins and Winchesters and always used the half cock notch, or loaded hammer down, or mag loaded no round in the chamber till needed.
When unloading, ran the rounds thru the chamber with fingers away from the trigger. We never had a problem, but just seems safer to do it like Henry does, and seems all lever guns should have that option,
