new scope questions

Just bought a new Bushnell Trophy XLT scope for my Mini-14. I cannot turn the power change ring or remove the windage and elevation caps manually. Before I do something drastic like take a wrench to it, is there something I should know? The user manual is worthless. Thanks.

take it back to where you bought it. Or, did ya buy it on line, new, used?

Bought online new. It was brand new still in the plastic from Amazon.
