NEW Security Six for $450?!

It's a fair price (on the high end), but not a deal. If you really want one, go for it. But IMO, it's too high to qualify for "don't pass it up".

My worked 6" 686 no dash that I got for $300 was one that I couldn't walk away from, but had that gun been $600 (Equivalent to the Ruger being priced at $450, and would have been worth it, albeit on the high side), it would have waited for another buyer. I paid $300 for my nearly mint Security 4" stainless, wouldn't have gone a penny higher (in 2000).

Probably a tad high, but then I've never let $50.00 or $100.00 stand in the way of a gun I really wanted. I'd try to get it for less, if I could, of course. It's not like the still make them, and you sure don't see them that condition every day.

I've owned a couple of them over the years. Both Speed and Security-Six models. VERY good guns. Maybe not quite as pretty as a Colt or Smith & Wesson, but good shooters that's for sure.

Well, think of it like this. What comparable revolver could you get brand new for $450?

This is the best question you can ask yourself.
