Until I bought my Cynergy Euro I never owned a shotgun that I felt needed a better choke tube than the ones commonly available on the market. With the Cynergy not only do I have 8 tubes (leaving 6 loose), but I wanted something classy.

So I set out to make something unique but still convenient for field use.

The body of the case is Osage Orange wood and the leather is 8 ounce oiled American cowhide. Each storage tube is drilled to the depth of the choke tube, not all of the way through, so the tubes never touch.

Just wanted to share but also interested in any thoughts, feedback or suggestions - thanks for looking!

Looks right at home as double gun accessory. It looks nice, and I like it.

Thanks all!

That's nice. How long did the case take to make?

I don't do real good about keeping track of that, but actual work time is probably about 3-4 hours. The Osage Orange started as a large block and needed resawn & planed which added time. If you started with 4/4 or 5/4 stock it would go quicker.

As with anything created from scratch - the initial design and the "thought process" was done over a much longer period of time.

How did you seal the osage orange?

Everything I ever made out of it ended up cracking wide open sooner or later!

Not really sealing it as much as stabilizing it but - I've always used Pentacryl on Osage and have had pretty good luck.

After all of the drilling and shaping was done it soaked for 2 days, then air dried for 3 weeks in a stable environment with still air.

After that you can finish however you like but I chose to leave this without a top coat and will oil it occasionally.

Nice work - but you have to slide out the chokes to see what restriction it is if not notched. The Briley cases I get everytime I order something work for me. But still - you have put together a pretty fancy item there.

Thanks. Would have been really easy to stamp the restriction on the leather or burn it into the wood but I have 8 choke tubes and wanted a 6 tube carrier - that doesn't work mathematically unless I always store the same two in the shotgun, even then it would be a bit confusing.
