"Gun Broker" says to contact a FFL agent prior to making a bid. I have done that. If he gets back to me and says he'll handle the transfer...what should I do then, assuming I'm the winning bidder?

I appreciate any info as I'd like this to go well. I hold a Texas CHL.

Thanks!

This thread may be in the wrong section but I'll give you my 2 cents.

1. make sure the guy has a good rating and good feedback.
2. Find an FFL that will accept the firearm, ask the seller if it's coming from an FFL or a private person. If it's coming from a private person, make sure your FFL will accept it.
Bid on the gun. If you win then you'll send him the money, Postal money order or a bank certified check, with a copy of your receiving FFL that is signed by the FFL. He will put this in the box for shipping. What ever kind of payment you all agree on, just no cash! That away you can always have proof of the money being sent if there's a problem.
3. This is a very important part, Send the MO and the FFL how ever you want, but make sure you get a DELIVERY CONFORMATION # and INSURANCE. I don't trust the postal office no more then the paper guy. Stuff gets lost, and it's your luck it will be your MO! Spen the extra few dollars to protect your self.

Ask the seller lots of questions and if your not sure ask for more pictures. If he wants to sell it he will work with you. Just make sure he has good feedback Gun Broker is just like E-Bay in alot of ways, just watch yourself, no one else is going to!

My 2 buys off Gunbroker were great, just as all my buys and sales have been on THR, but I still cover my A** as much as possible.

try to get tracking info on the shipment- sometimes my FFL doesn't realize who the shipment is for.

I've bought about7-8 guns through gunbroker and never had a problem. Appears most sellers are stand up people

i was real hesitant of internet gun sales, but have completed 2 this year and
have been very pleased. it all boils down to research and feedback on the seller. payed for the items on monday and had them both on that friday from
different vendors. my local ffl charged me $40 total for the transfer all i did was give them the fax# to send their ffl copy. quick and painless.......

Thanks To All!

That's valuable information for me and I'll follow it to the letter! Yea, I'm a stong believer in covering my back side!!

Appreciate it very much!

Also, have the seller send the invoice for your purchase to your house instead of shipping it with the gun. Some FFL's are sleazy and will charge you what you would have paid in sales tax just to discourage out of state sales.

I send the FFL and the MO separately. I send the MO with delivery confirmation and the FFL just regular mail, that way I can tell if someone is yanking my chain.

In an internet buy or sell situation it is all about the communication. The more communication the better everyone feels, the less communication the person with the $$$ hanging out there doesn't feel so good.

Read and believe the feedback as mentioned in a post above. Most negative feedback will be pertaining to the same issue, slow shipping, no communication, etc... it doesn't mean the transaction was all bad it just means something wasn't done in a fashion that someone didn't like.

For example I am completing a transaction with a group on gunbroker out of CT. Several negative feedbacks and they all related to timing people didn't get there purchase when expected but they did get their purchase. I could live with that so I bought and boy is it taking a long time but that was expected.

Good luck, and don't bid on anything I'm high bidder on.:neener:

Great Stuff

Thank you all..I won the bid and am waiting to hear from the seller re: amount. Have heard from FFL ($20). Will take all of the wonderful advice.

Thanks Again!
