Some time ago, I asked for opinions/experience with regard to buying a .22 bolt action rifle. I had my choices narrowed down between the CZ 452 and the Weatherby.
I finally pulled the funds together and picked up my new Weatherby last weekend. The fit and finish is unbelievable and it just feels right in my hands. Before I took it home, I had it fitted with a Bushnell 3-9x40 scope(not exactly high end but more than enough for my needs). I got it home and cleaned it up and returned to the range the next day. I sighted the scope in using CCI standard velocity ammo. My best 5 shot group could be covered by a nickel (from a bench at 30 yds.). The action is very smooth and the trigger is light and crisp. I've heard people describe a good trigger as being like breaking a glass rod and I now understand what they are talking about. Thanks again to everyone who responded to my original thread for helping me make the right decision. I really like this rifle and look forward to having fun with it for years to come.

Congrats on the new .22. I always wanted one of the older model autos after shooting one several years ago but missed my chance and they are too high now for me to consider.

Thanks doya. I agree that it was expensive and it took a while to pull the money together but I don't mind paying more if the quality is there.

Well, either way you would have done good, but i must say, that for top flight fit and finish, the Wetherby is proly at the very top of the list.

I am looking for a Weatherby XXII 4x50 scope. I broke my friends and am having trouble finding a replacement. I really need to make this right. If anyone knows where I can find this scope, please let me know.

The Weatherby is actually made by Anschutz of Germany. They are barreled actions set into the classic style stock is WEatherby is;) known for. Should be a grreat shooting rifle, I have a couple of Annies my self.

Congratulations on the purchase. It should make a great small game and target rifle in PA. I also mounted a 3-9x on mine (Weaver rimfire AO however). Buy yourself a selection of ammo and get out and test it out. It should do better than a nickel at 30 yds. It should do a nickel at 75 or 100 yds with the right ammo. So, get shooting!!

Now you have to start saving up for the CZ. That is what I did. :D
