Gang,

I spoke earlier with Mark Galli at EAA and he asked me to pass on some information on a new pistols coming from EAA for the '06 catalog. There will be three total at this point, but two are still so tentative that he asked me to hold off on the details. The one I can give good information on is the Witness Match. This is a current production item in Europe, and he said the first ones have already arrived. At this point he has one left in 9mm and one in 45. The Match features:

*Single action adjustable trigger (expect a 4-5lbs pull)
*Super Sight (Bomar type) with dovetailed front blade
*Extended safety
*Wide cocking serations on the slide
*Long slide and barrel (4.84")
*Polygonal rifling
*Large frame thus higher capacities (18 in 9mm/38SA, 15 in 40/10mm)
*Two tone finished (high polish blue slide, Wonder Finish frame)

Below is the picture from Tanfoglio's web site:

I am very tempted by the 10mm models he said would be arriving soon. He said to call if interested and he could put your name on a list for them. Suggested retail is $575, making this below the Stock in pricing. It has a nice set of features and should make a great shooter. 10mm would really fit well in this platform and would benefit from the extra barrel. 16 rounds of my favorite cartridge ready to go!

I really like these, been meaning to pick one up in .38 super for a long time now.

Daughter's Gun

This would make a great limited gun for my daughter. She's shooting a Witness Silver Team in open and does pretty good with it. For local club matches we waive the power factor and a nine is fine for limited shooting. Her current open gun is a 9X21 so all her high cap mags should work in this gun in straigh 9MM.

She's not a very large person and while she can shoot my .40 okay she cannot shoot it very fast so slick single action, high capacity 9 would fit the bill. This may bear looking into.

Thanks for the tip,

I wonder if they'd make a compact version with the same features (doubtful), as I have this sneaking suspicion that grip will be too big for my hands

The grip really does not feel in comparison to some other guns that use one platform for all calibers. I will take a look at my Witness Stock tonight and compare its grip length to my P18.9. I should have done that in my picture thread.

I have a 9mm Stock on the way that should have shipped yesterday. It would also be a great gun for Limited. One thing to be aware of is that the magazines from the earlier Witnesses are not compatible with the new ones in 9mm and 40. These are large frame guns based on the 38 Super and 10mm platform. Thus the 9mm Witness mags from earlier guns will be too small. It may be that a Silver Team would have the large frame pattern mags, if a recent gun. I am not sure when Tanfoglio made the change.
