I was talking to the S&W rep at the shot last week about what may be the new X frame and what he told me was that at the last sammi meeting S&W put forward a 50 special as a factory loading and that they may throw it into a scadnium 3" revolver. I'd buy one!

It would make a great 2-shot j-frame!

50 caliber...Special! I love it. 12 oz. lead slug  at 800 fps. You may out run it, but if not it will flatten you like a freight train.

Put that bad boy in a j-frame and you'd only have room for two chambers! I think we would have to start recording 1/2 shot stops!

"The perp was only nicked by half the bullet but it still took off one arm and stopped him in his tracks."

There's already a .50 Special. Cor-Bon is loading it. It was bound to happen.

I think a 7-shot .44 Mag would be neat. Or how about a 10-shot .357? Okay, that probably wouldn't sell very well, but it'd be neat to make one or two just to say you did. :D

Yes I know about the cor-bon 500 special loads S&W is just going forward to establish industry standards for manufacture.

I dont understand all this rage about scadnium framed pistols. The finish on them is horrible, and they are so lite that they make shooting powerful calibers impractical. Maybe for a .38 but not for anything more.

They already have a 10 shot in the 617 so it would not be hard to make the X frame into a 10 shot.
In fact, I have heard a rumor of just such a beast.
I know a good number of people that would buy it!

Sounds like a bit of a lump in an IWB holster, but it'd probably make all the big bullet freaks trade in their .45s. A .45 might expand, but a .50 won't shrink, ya know. :p Personally, I'd rather have a .41 mag in something like the discontinued Taurus titanium .41mag Tracker. Wouldn't look like you had a hip tumor with it in a Sparks Summer Special.

Something tells me a scandium X frame ain't gonna be all THAT light, well, not like a J frame anyway. And, some folks can handle a little recoil, though I don't like those tiny J frame light weight .357s. But, for carry, you wouldn't want a full weight X frame IWB for long. Heck, I don't think ANY X frame would be all that comfortable for all day carry regardless of weight. But, a steel one? Sheesh......

If they have one in the works it will show up either at the IDPA Nationals tomorrow or at the SHOT Show in January. You just have to hang on til Monday or next year, depending.

Nonsense. With a proper harness and the proper backpack you could carry it all day.

Talk about useless... is that going to be a short tubed version? The X frame is too huge. Knock it down into a 4 shot J frame maybe and I'm with you... for an X? It should stick to hotrod hunting cartidges.
