You can get either extension rings or bases. I have the same scope on my Savage 30-06 and have the bases on it which allows me some adjustment. I have used rings before also that works pretty well, too.

If it helps you any, that's the scope that came on my Savage 111... Out of the box, they had an extended base, that placed the front ring further back, over the bolt.
It's a long action (30-06) savage stevens 200.
Yes, I'm aware that I can use extension mounts, or a single piece base, but I don't want a single piece base interfering with the loading, and the extension rings only give so much room.... From the looks of things I'd probably not have any room to move the scope forward and backward, so if I don't like where it sits I'm SOL.

Can you provide a pic near your scope area?
Finally got around to trying to mount the scope. Actually, tried to mount the 2-7x32 that I bought for it way back when I bought the gun, but I think the tube length is the same.
Stupid extension rings I bought don't work for it. There isn't enough of a lift between the top of the extension and the inside of the ring. The bell of the scope hits the top of the extension, the tube won't sit in the ring. I thought that was the whole point of the extension rings, oh well.
For now I just put a different scope on there, it's the scope I'd rather have on my .22, but it'll do until I figure out something else.
I don't understand why it's so hard to find specs on stuff before you buy it to find out if it will work for your application.
