I will be stationed in Texas in a few months and I would like to get a Non-resident carry permit for Florida. I am active duty military, so my ID card should be good enough for the proficiency portion.

What other requirements will I have to meet to be eligible for the NR permit?

Thanks in advance for any answers you guys may provide.

Non Resident Carry Permit....

is issued by the: Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services
Division of Licensing
PO Box 6687
Tallahassee, FL 32314-6687
They do not distinguish between resident and non resident.

What BacSi67 said. There is no distinguishing between a resident and non-resident permit. All the info you'll need is on the Dept. of Agriculture website.

Also, If you're in FL, getting your finger prints Live Scanned (electronic fingerprinting) vs. FBI fingerprint cards will take weeks off of getting your permit. Research ahead for locations and costs, usually sheriff's departments. Turnaround time for my permit, I was Live Scanned and live in FL, was 6 weeks. Hope this helps, Mike

You might want to see if a NH non-resident permit will fit your needs. Lots cheaper than FL.

Wow, Live scan? Nobody told me about that little nuance when I applied for my non-res. Oh well.

BTW I was AF 92-96, thanks for your service.
