NY Bill A10503 would raise the minimum purchase age of a semi-automatic rifle to 21 and require a license to purchase/possess a semi-automatic rifle. Do you think it will pass? I have my doubts but these days nothing is certain. Given that NY state already bans rifles with scary features and the recent shooting in Buffalo I fear this bill may become law.

They passed a bill raising the age to 21 to buy a rifle/shotgun in Florida after Parkland. So that sounds very doable in NY.

I wouldn't bet against it, there are still alot of Democrats in control in the state assembly and they are eager to pass *something*, whether it is good or not.

They were able to pass the SAFE Act without most of the politicians even having any idea what was in it.

Thankfully Cuomo is gone, for the moment anyway. This will easily pass and they can tell all their constituents how much safer they are, until the next shooting anyway.

Edit: It already happened. They just passed a bill, 21 to buy a semi-auto rifle, restricting citizens from buying bullet proof vests, and revising their red flag laws.

Which also means you are now required to obtain a license to purchase or possess a semi automatic and brings to mind all sorts of questions.
Does this mean I can no longer let my GF or friends shoot my 10/22 or any other semi auto rifle I own?
If my firearms were purchased prior to the new law anyone can shoot them so long as I don't transfer ownership or is it now a crime for anyone who doesn't have a license to use my firearms even in my presence?
