So, I rook my CPL last month and finally found some time and cash to go turn in all the paperwork. While turning it in, the lady gave me a fingerprint card and said " the sheriff's office is closed, but you can go Monday, then you'll get a letter with the date of your appointment to go before the board in a few weeks."
I then asked when I should expect to have this appointment. Her reply- "4-5 months"
My questions are: A) I thought that the county legally had a timeframe to have all this sorted out, and that it was certainly NOT that long?
B) The board appearance is basically a screening, where they ask me questions regarding my want to carry, if I plan on going out and shoot everyone that looks at me funny, etc. It's really stupid. How can they legally do this? I thought a background check sufficed as a "screening"?
