OH: IDPA Match in Canton (Northeast Ohio)

Greenport Tactical Association is hosting an IDPA match at the Faircrest LLC range in southeast Canton.

Sign in is from 9am until 2pm, shooting will begin shortly after 9am and continue until everybody is done (or there's no more light left).

Yours Truly just took over as Secretary, so things should be whipped into shape pretty soon. You shoulda seen the old website (steaming pile is the term ;-)

What is the current total membership of GTA?

That's kind a personal question ;-). And a bit hard to answer at this point. GTA is basically OPS (Ohio Practical Shooters) reborn at a new location. I've got 85 people or so in the newsletter mailing list.

I just took over as Secretary, and until Sunday we didn't have official membership applications or the like. So, we're expecting most of the previous OPS members are going to sign up.

This is bad. Another match I have to choose from for an up coming weekend. Already had a trip planed for Saturday with a backup "plan B" in place. Guess I have a "plan C" now.

I used to occasionally shoot at Copley with OPS. I hope to make the trip to this Saturday's match. It's about a two hour drive, but I've got to come over at least once in awhile.
I'm hoping for good weather. What's the range surface like? Dirt, sand, stone, grass?

The range surface is dirt, hopefully freshly graded. As I understand it we'll be shooting in a different location than the last time I was there.

There are a few pictures in the photo gallery that show the area a bit. I hope to be taking some more this weekend.

You know Pete Wilson?? He's putting together the match this weekend... I don't really know many of the folks, so I can't say how he'll do ;-).

The May match is tentatively a qualifier match, which is good cause I need to get qualified.
