OK,
I am not posting this on the trader, cuz I really don't want to step on this guys ad but OMG!!!! Look at this!!:
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=4998390#post4998390

Now, What I see is a fair condition old Model 65 police trade in like you could buy not so long ago from SOG for around $250. No TH or TT. My blue book says in 100% (which it ain't) at $390, Ok ok, they only made 2500 in 3" bbls but even if you add 50% your only at $585 which in all fairness is in MY opinion about $125 more than its worth in the current market.

As to the custom work, If I sent a stainless gun in that condition back to S&W and it came back with the crane, and the side plate sprung like that and all those obvious steel wool marks, I would send it right back to them and have them start again! I don't care how good the action and trigger are.

Thats not even mentioning the horribly gloppy finish and bubbadeluxe fit on the wood grips and the raggedy lookin' Armorers stamp on the BACKSTRAP? OH, and did you notice the S&W logo seems to be buffed off of the reciever

SHEEESH! Sorry, I just had to rant! Its out of my system now and I don't wanna rag on a fellow Okie, but, I DO hope he has way less in this than he's askin!
Rant Over!

If you think it's priced too high, don't buy it.

BTW - Bagging on a fellow member's "for sale" gun here is actually worse than stepping on the guy's WTS post.

You should edit this one to read:

Just "My opinion"

I noticed the ad, looked at the pistol, saw the price, and moved on. Nuff said.

Before this is locked, I'll just say;

Maybe he is just anticipating the post "Wall Street Bailout" inflation adjusted price.

If it makes you feel any better I carried a S&W 65 everyday at work for the sheriff's for over eight years. The one I first had was a 3". It was later issued to a detective and I got the detectives 4". I am a good pistol shot and hated the model 65 with a passion. I never ever shot it well at all. I would not take one unless it was free and I knew I could sell it that same day. I wouldn't even pay the shipping on a free one. If I saw one on the sidewalk I don't know if I would bother to pick it up at risk of a back injury. The model 65 was designed by a drunk on monday morning.

****...

That's not the only "irrationally exuberant" seller of revolvers lately. There has been a thousand-buck K22 offered lately as well. Remember what PT Barnum said.

It's called the free market system.

Sellers can ask whatever price they want... or think they can get... and buyers are free to purchase or keep looking.

I had a Model 65 3" that I dressed up with fancy wood grips, jeweled the hammer and trigger, set in an orange ramp front site, etc. It was a great gun and I loved it.
Unfortunately I found out (as if my experience with a Model 10 wasn't enough) that I can't shoot guns with fixed sights. I sold it and got a Model 19 instead.
