Does anyone know of a Colt Rifle with an octagon barrel. It reads COLT SPTFA
Mfg Co. Hartford, CT. Elliot's Patents May 29 1882, September 19, 1883
32 Cal ?: banghead: A website that might identify it by serial number?
It's history?
A photo, or at the very least an accurate description of the action type (pump/slide, lever, single shot, et al) would go a long way. The best I can think of is perhaps a Colt Lightning in .32-20Win., but that is a stretch with the info. you have provided. BTW, welcome to THR, Toni Kay!
Just wanted to add that if it is the Lightning, and in good condition, it is worth quite a bit, could be upwards of $3-5k. Even in relatively poor/average condition (well used, but functional and at least mostly original), it would be worth in the neighborhood of about $1-2000.00, as they are fairly rare and sought after. A brief history can be found here.
