this might be the wrong section but since it's related to ammo, i'll try here. I've been deer hunting since I was like 13 or so and have always used a remingtion 7400 carbine. Me and my dad use this remingtion load from walmart in both 180gr and 150gr if I'm correct. It has a brass-like ballistic tip. in about 2000 or so they stop carrying it. I could not find them anywhere. don't know if it's discontinued or not but this bullet has never let me down. it literally blew a big hole through the poor deer. NEVER have i had a deer run on me. we started using the remington core-loks afterwards and even with a well placed shot, they tend to run from time to time. we tried the winchester silver case with black jacket and white tip but it doesn't perform like the remingtons did.

Does anyone recall using the same bullet? are they really discontinued? I can imagine why. I'll try to load up a picture later. I tell my hunting friends about it but they don't seem to believe me. I still have like a hand full left in my collection but it's become a jewel. part number would be nice, or something factory that performs the same. i no longer use the 30-06 but it will be a gift for my older brother who is new to the sport.

I'm not sure what the Lyman cast bullet mold link is about??

But the other two links are for the Remington Bronze-Point ammo you ask about.

I think that's the one. wow it's gone up like $10 since the last time i saw it, thanks guys.

Factory loaded Remington Bronze Point is still listed as a catalog item on the Remington site...Both 150gr and 180gr are still available...

Remington has indeed stopped selling the bronze tip bullets as components though...

I used to load the 180gr for my 7400...The bronze tips did not deform under recoil in the magazine...

I have maybe 80 bullets left to load...

If you are looking for an alternative, try the Nosler Partition 180gr in either the Spire or Protected Point offering. Both of my boys and I use this bullet and I have never had to chase anything (including Moose) that I shot with it!
