Anyone ever hear of a three gun competition where they use older tech?
Like double or single action revolvers, bolt or lever rifles, and single shot or double barrel shotguns? Could be pretty fun .

Barry The Bear, Look into SASS,cowboy shooters, they have three gun competition. Single action revolvers, lever rifle in revolver caliber, and double barrel shotgun.

Yep. Cowboy Action Shooting. Just use one single action revolver and take 5 misses for not using a second revolver.
Or, if you are on my posse, I'll lend you a second revolver!

In theory a shooter with one revolver can take the five misses per stage, or reload the revolver "on the clock". In practice I've never seen it happen. We'll lend you a revolver and usually give you the ammo to shoot in it. We want new shooters to get the complete experience!

There is also a game called Western 3 Gun which allows "shooting on the move" similar to "modern" 3 Gun. Not many clubs offer it but you ARE in Texas....

I think you could also use the "old school" guns in a modern 3 Gun match. You wouldn't be competitive but it would be fun! Maybe a "Sergeant York" experience with a mil-spec 1911, a Springfield bolt rifle, and an 1897 trench gun!

I've thought something like this would be fun for a while. Sort of a three gun match with pre 1942 designs. I would allow sporterized rifles and lever actions though.

I have been toying with the idea of running "outdated" tech in a regular 3 Gun style match for a while now.

The thought really intrigues me.

I go to a club Multi gun often enough, they would probably be down with it.

I have a Winchester 30-30 (would prefer a 92 for this, but I don't have one... yet), a Clone SAA and an 870 (I might borrow a pre 1900's designed just to keep in era)

It would be similiar to when I ran a SAA at a USPSA style match:

Pre 1942 would be able to compete in a modern multi gun match no problem.

Lets see here:

Model 10 revolver or 1911 (used lots)
M1 Garand or Civilian Thompson
Winchester shotgun

There are probably lots of combos you could do to make it pre 1942. I would encourage you to show up with that gear and give it a go at a local match!

Was thinking of entering one here locally with the following :

Rifle : h&r grand
Shotgun: 1897 winchester norinco knockoff
Pistol: Smith model 1950 model .44 spl courtesy of my brothers collection
