NB: I also posted this on the S&W Forum looking for answers--

I was surfing the internet looking for something completely different when I found this year old article:

Police Seize Nearly 400 Illegal Weapons
NBC4.tv | September 17, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- Police arrested a 56-year-old Simi Valley man and seized nearly 400 illegal weapons from the suspect's home -- more than were recovered in all of Los Angeles in 2003, Chief William Bratton said Friday.

Thursday's arrest of Wayne Wright, 56, was made in Porter Ranch after he completed what authorities called "an unlawful firearm transaction with an undercover Los Angeles Police Department Gun Unit officer." Police, who booked Wright at the LAPD's Devonshire Area station, found 11 more rifles and shotguns in his car, Bratton said.

In addition to the weapons in Porter Ranch, detectives obtained a search warrant for Wright's home in Simi Valley and found another 376 weapons, including rifles, shotguns, handguns and four assault weapons.

and some favorite quotes from the story:
Police also recovered a silencer and thousands of rounds of ammunition, including military combat-style tracer and armor-piercing rounds,
The original wire service copy didn't have military combat-style ...?
Authorities said many of these guns are the types routinely used in crimes in Los Angeles.
Don't know how to respond to that.
Bratton called the arsenal "a phenomenal number of guns that will not be on the streets killing people."
or that...

Me thinks the guy is/was an accumulator/collector. Anyone know how this case turned out? Anyone know how to find out? It seems like a lot of nice guns that might have gone to be destroyed <drat>
