Hello,

Today at Gander Mt. in Tyler Tx. I saw a new H&R or a NEF(I dont remember) 45.70. This rifle had a fairly heavy, looong barrell and it had an aperture rear site as well as a aperture inside an aperture front site. It had quite a bit of heft to it, and it had kind of a vintage look to it. Does this rifle sound familiar to anyone?

Can someone tell me if it was an H&R or NEF. I would also like to know about the recoil. I got side tracked when my wife found a gun she wanted, and I forgot to check it out more. I really like the rifle and would love to hear from someone that has one.

If it's a Buffalo Classic, it has a 32" barrel. They are a bit light for heavy .45-70 loads, and will kick the snot out of you if you decide to try it. That steel buttplate hurts, too! AMHIK.

For lighter loads, they are a hoot! I prefer black powder loads in mine - it's quite accurate, and lends a sense of nostalgia to the outing. Cleanup has been easy so far - swab the bore with water (it needn't be hot), followed with a light oiling.
