I think I must be missing something when it comes to online ammo, typically they seem to be less than a dollar cheaper per box than what I see at walmart but the shipping is always outrageous. I understand why the shipping is so much, but it seems like even buying a few boxes at a time you re paying way more, and buying in bulk you're pretty much getting the same price as you would at walmart.

My Walmart doesn't sell 5.45x39, and only tula 7.62x39 in 20 round boxes for about $6 a box. Maybe you aren't looking in the right spot. I shop at AIM and ammoman.

Idk about you but I cant buy 5000 rounds of 9mm at walmart. Every time im there the have 300-400 rounds max. Check out sgammo

I have never seen Golden Tiger in a gun store or at wal mart. I love that stuff! Much less hollow points or soft points for my 7.62x39.

And if you find a vendor within a reasonable distance to you shipping tends to be cheaper. Now if you live on the east coast and order form the west coast, then yes, shipping is pricey.

When you purchase a case at a time the price difference per round becomes much more reasonable.

If I want the best deal I wait for a gun show and by from miwall

I'm a new pistol owner and I'm looking for affordable 9mm ammo. I checked the miwall website and it looks like they'll be at a gunshow in Salt Lake City later this month that I could attend. But their website makes it look like they primarily sell reloading supplies. Can someone verify for me that they sell factory loaded 9mm ammo at gun shows? If so, will it be primarily target loads (FMJ) or defensive loads (JHP) or both?

Thanks in advance for helping this newbie.

I buy most of my ammo at walmart as well. They run out of stock fast though so whenever i see something that is a deal ill pick up a few boxes. They only carry the most common calibers though. Thats when i buy online, like 32acp.

Their website deals mostly in components, but they sell lots of factory ammo and commercial reloads at the gun shows. A couple of months back they had the 420rd cans of xm855 for 124.99+tx when everyone else had already bumped it to 149.99 and up.

Thanks, I'll go take a look. :)

Check out gun-deals.com for a quick and easy way to check out online prices. Ordering in bulk or with a friend helps reduce prices. I just bought a case of 7.62x39 for $117/500rds shipped vs $129+tax locally

Better selection, better prices (if you wait for good deals), no taxes in most cases (making up for the shipping in a lot of cases) etc. Selection is a primary reason many shop this way. Yeah, I MIGHT be able to get "some" 7.2x39 at Walmart (but have NEVER seen it at our local store) but I can't get brass-cased Yugo M67 surplus. I might be able to buy a box of .243 ammo, but I won't be able to find the 95 grain TSX load my rifle may like. Some of us are particular about our ammo, and know what our guns shoot well, and sometimes have to ahop around to find it. Just because a wide variety of "generic" loads are found in many walamarts doesn't mean the ammo we are actually LOOKING FOR will be there

I buy the common stuff at Walmart. I buy the better stuff via online retailers, or stuff that is hard to find locally. I usually put together a fairly sizable order and sometimes take advantage of free shipping or $5 shipping deals if they are offerred.

If you're getting the same price buying in bulk online that you would get at Walmart, then you're in serious need of looking around the internet a little bit more. It's true, for my purposes, in order for it to be cheaper online, I usually have to buy at least 3 boxes. But I usually buy at least that much anyways.

Check this place out. Cheapest shipping that I've found with basically the lowest cost/round (including shipping, of course) of any other place I've seen for my purposes. www.grafs.com... Shipping is only $5.95. Even buying one box of Wolf w/shipping is still cheaper than a box at Walmart.

1000 rd case of Aguila 124 gr 9mm cost me 194.99 with 15.15 delivery= 210.14
.21 cents/round

9mm Federal (100-round boxes) are sold at my Walmart for $19.99... Or $199.90+Tax for 1,000. With tax, it's only a few dollars more; but, of course, like mentioned earlier, I've never seen 1,000 in stock at that Walmart, either. It would take at least 2 shopping trips.

EDIT: Sorry for the multiple posts. I'm done. :/

Try finding 10mm at Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart got some Ranger T? (Intentional grammar violation)

IF WalMart carries the ammo you want, in the quantity you want, it is going to be very difficult to beat their prices anywhere on line.

...AND you will probably avoid sales tax also.

FYI: Not that anybody does/I], but you're supposed to pay tax yourself on out of state purchases like over the internet. If not, you are evading sales taxes, and could theoretically be held liable... Avoiding taxes is legal, evading them is not.

That's one of the main reasons local/state govt's are attempting to clamp down on e-commerce of late. Even my fair state of Texas won its recent showdown with Amazon over this issue.
