Come on now --

Don't sound like BABIES! Just stop whining about not getting your ads on Craig's list etc, waa waa waa for God's sake. How bitchy and effete is that?? DO NOT rely on cyberspace for your gun deals. Go buy or sell your guns old style, like we have done it forever. Or else get on a local guntrader website like the great one in Texas. This online whining is ridiculous.

i hope this site gets up and running, i like the classified on gun forums because you can often review the seller and ask a lot of questions before you buy or even drive somewhere.

* posting so i remember to come back and check this site later

I wonder if they mind if established FFLs use it to drive traffic to their stores. That's the way to get thousands of listing in a hurry.

After you pick your state, there are a few drop-down menus you can use to refine your search. One is "Listing Type" and its choices are "FFL" or "Non-FFL." I'd interpret that to mean they have no problems with FFLs posting.

Legal Issues wit Gun Classifieds Site

I'm a web developer, and have been working on a classifieds site to offer gun/ammo listings for free, just like gunlistings.org (I just discovered that site, looking for info here).

Since I have the tools, and it wouldn't cost me anything, I figured I could crank it out in my spare time and just let it be whatever it grows to be...giving people (and myself) a place to post free ads. I'm shocked that there aren't more out there, but I guess everyone wants to get paid for everything these days.

QUESTION:
If anyone out there has any legal experience that would qualify them, I want to know what legal ramifications there would be for me to do this. Would putting up a terms of use like craigslist be enough to protect me? I know anyone can sue, even if protection is in place. This would just be a hobby site, and I certainly wouldn't want to stick my neck out just for fun. Any serious, legal input would be appreciated. Thanks.

+1 for backpage.com. im in phoenix as well and there are TONS of firearms for private sale. i like the fact that ive seen many sellers that say they will only sell to a ccl holder with an az licence, and since this is a shall issue state, doesnt seem like an unreasonable demand.

Asking for legal advice on the Internet is a bad idea. How many folk with practical and verifiable real-life legal experience in this area (aka lawyers) do you think will provide that information for free? ;)

Interesting that Craigslist allows ads soliciting for prostitution but prohibits gun ads.

You can place gun ads on Craigslist. You just have to be creative and or obscure.

"Pre64 M94 30-30" would probably go just fine and not get flagged quickly.

"9mm Pistol" would not last long.

My wanted ad for "Projectile launching devices" generally lasts a while. Sometimes I have to change it up to "Boomsticks wanted". Some people probably don't get it, but some do.

What is it that these sites offer that I cannot get from GunBroker or AuctionArms?
More options!

With Swapgiant, you can see who in your area specifically has things for sale. I think we all will agree that buying a gun FTF is usually a much smoother transaction without the need to pay an FFL (not that they don't deserve to make a living!) in most cases. No NICS forms, shipping hassles or sales tax.

I tried to post an American Derringer 45/410 and it would not take my post.....don't know what the problem was.

Just a by the way, In Las Vegas there is now vegasguntrader.com has a few guns and some ammo as well. Screw CraigsList

Interesting that Craigslist allows ads soliciting for prostitution but prohibits gun ads.

In all fairness, they allow ads for "Adult Services" which in practice means prostitution, but you're not supposed to literally advertise prostitution on there. It's official purpose is to allow advertising for legal adult services like massages, BDSM sessions, and strippers for private parties and the like. In practice it's there to segregate the ads out from the genuine personals section (where prostitutes would post their ads at if there wasn't an adult section).

Personally I don't care about the prostitution ads (nor do I even think it should be illegal), but they really should back off their anti-gun agenda. As mentioned though, it may have more to do with the fear of a lawsuit than with any political agenda. With the legal system like it is now it seems like if someone gets shot their relatives can sue the gun shop, the gun seller, the ammo maker, the advertising company that worked for both, and the state where it occurred, even if they all were obeying the law to the letter.

This has a few of them in there.

Need to get some of the other sites to join.

Its a topsite just for gun classifieds.

This one ranks by hits out of the page so the sites don't have to put one of those ranking buttons on their websites. You see 30 of those on some of the gun sites.

I'd bet that the victim is suing CL because the shooter has no assets.

I believe the very first lesson taught in lawyering 101 is, go after the deepest pockets, along with anyone else you can stick!

We have northwestfirearms.com in Oregon. It's a local forum and there is quite a bit of activity in the classifieds. If you search for a local forum that may work.
