Went and sat in my stand this morning. No deer movement, though sign is everywhere. Just a matter of time. I got down out of my stand mid morning and went to check my hog trap and by golly I had THREE hogs in it!!! I have never set a trap down there, got this one this summer and haven't really messed too much with it, didn't catch anything. They got all around it rootin' up the ground, but never figured out how to go in. Well, I put a smaller bungee on the door and left it open baited for a while and the other day when I was tending my feeder, I saw tracks inside it.
Shot all three in the head with my Taurus M85UL carry piece with +P carry loads, gutted 'em, got 'em home and am about to start skinnin', the fun part.:banghead::banghead: But, hey, I sure ain't complainin'! I'll trim up some of 'em for grinding with venison to make some sausage later on, but I just love grillin' wild hog, great grill meat. All three were sows, a couple about 100 lbs and one about 75 estimated, great eatin' size. I got my "deer sleigher" out (a piece of plastic with eyes to tie a deer to, or any game and drag), put the two big ones in that, and tossed the little one up on my luggage rack of my dirt bike and drug all three out at once. These things were black and had that razor back to 'em, real wild lookin', small in the hips, big in the shoulders, straight tails. The little one was brown with a white patch. Sows, so no teeth to brag about, but heck, they were trapped, not hunted. I don't kill these things for the mounts, strictly meat to me.
No deer, but it was a good morning. I get to put some meat in the freezer.
