I've got two:
One's in .223 w/18.5"bbl and Walnut stock.
Other is a 7mm-08; 20"bbl and Laminated stock.
Neither is what I'd call a "tack-driver", but both are acceptable, with the 7mm-08 verging on "un-acceptable".
Neither is capable of MOA, but the .223 with the right ammo will approach it.
I've expended about 400rds and worked on the stock and trigger of the 7mm-08 trying to get it to shoot better than 1.7-2.5" groups, but I suspect that it's going to take "blue-printing" and possibly rebarreling to do it.
(I've glass bedded the action, and then later re-bedded it and free-floated the barrel). Last improvements cured the "stringing", but now its shooting circles and rings of 1.7-2.5", but at least they are in the same place day to day!
All that stated however, I dearly enjoy shooting and hunting with these rifles. I took 8 of the 12 deer I killed this year with them and I didn't even get the 7mm till almost Thanksgiving. I still prefer the .223 for hunting from shooting houses as it swings around easily and is quick to get on target. The ergonomics of the stocks are excellent.
My favorite load for the .223 for deer is the new Sierra 65gr GameKing BTSP over RL-15. It chrono's just under 3,000fps from the stubby barrel and is completly stabilized, yeilding equal to superior accuracy of anything I've shot through this rifle. My varmint buster is the Nosler 55gr BT over slightly more RL-15 for about 3,150fps; or about what you'd get from a .222 with 24"bbl.
In the 7mm, the 140's have given excellent performance on deer, with my favorite being the Sierra BTSP. Kudo's have to go to the 140gr Rem Cor-lokt however. It is nearly as accurate, slightly less explosive than the Sierra, and MUCH CHEAPER!
Best accuracy however, has been with Nosler 150gr BT and Rem 150gr Cor-lokt. I haven't tried any 160's, but from what I'm seeing, may be the "TRICK" for this rifle. Powders have favored on H-380, but H4350 is faster (velocity wise) and my be the best overall.
Velocities from the 20'' tube are VERY close to manual listed velocities from 25" tubes, and is probably the best compromise length for this rifle.
I prefer the 7mm-08 for walking-stalking, as if shot placement is not perfect, the 7mm bullets can make up for a less than perfect shot. Though, the .223 is no slouch either! Did I mention that I haven't recovered a 65gr (or 55gr either) bullet from a deer? Not to mention a 7mm 140gr.
I could have and hunt with ANY modern firearm I would care to use, but I've found that either the Marlin lever actions or the Rem M-7 are about "as good as it gets"!
For peak accuracy I'd suggest a Heavier Barrel such as on the new m700 VLS or what ever it's called. May have to get one of those for the shooting range bragging rights. The Seven's shoot just fine "ONE HOLE GROUPS" in the critters I direct them at!
And thats "All" that's really needed.
