Hi all I was thinking about purchasing a SX3 but first wanted to know what everybody thought about it! I did use the search and found a few old threads but I would like to know what people think about it now that its been out for quite a while! I basically want to hear about reliability, I already know its light which I like. Also I think I will be getting a field version with the 26'' barrel how does it hold up in environment? I usually take really good care of my firearms but would like to know if its a hunk of junk or if you guys really like them! Thanks!

Any reason you would really want a SX3 over the SX2? I have shot both, and own a SX2, and I don't think the price difference between the two is justifiable unless you just really have your mind set on a SX3.

As far as my SX2 goes... I love it, and there are only a few subtle differences in between the two models. Both are great looking guns, and from everything I have shot and seen they are reliable. The first time taking my SX2 out I had 2 shells mess up, and I am going to blame the Winchester white box I was shooting because I have 3 other guns that have had a few problems with the same ammo.

I think you'll find most people like both the SX3 and SX2.

I think an SX3 weighs about a 1/2 pound less than a similar SX2 model. I looked at them when they came out, but I already had what I needed, an SX-2 Waterfowl. It's been a great gun.

Do they still make the SX2, or are new SX2s still in stock somewhere? Maybe he wants a NIB gun rather than a used one.

Isn't the SX2 just like the Ruger Mark II? The second version was supposedly better than the first and the third versions, but good luck finding one of them, especially NIB.

Not a whole lot of experience with it yet, but I bought a SX3 Flanigun last week for shooting clays, which I'd like to start doing more of. I love the light weight, trigger is nice enough, recoil is not bad even w/ 3", 1 1/8, 1200fps loads, and it's easy to break down and clean. Hoping to get out this weekend and do some patterning so I can show it off to my co-workers when we go shooting sporting clays next weekend.

I picked up my SX2 early last month from Cabelas.

I have an SX3. It has held up great and is well built. It took about 500 rds to break in and function with light dove loads, but now shoots anything. I like the gun alot and would buy another, but it is not my primary waterfowl gun. I have others tht fit me better. The only oddity is the camo on the receiver is a lighter color than the stocks and appears to get lighter with time.

I don't think that answers my questions, but it's good to know. I searched Cabela's site and only found two available in a MN store. If these are no longer in production, I need to grab a new one while they are still around.

I have an FN SLP which is basically the same shotgun/action.

It has been fantastic! Extremely fast, very reliable and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Believe it or not the only thing that has given me trouble shooting through it was bulk Winchester field loads sold at Wal Mart. It shoots the Federals just fine so I use them for cheap plinkers.
