who makes adecent and affordable mount for optics on a mauser 8MM I just started shooting my war surp rifle and need something better than Iron sights at 1oo plus yards .

If you can settle for a scout type mount, B-square sells a mount that attaches to the rear sight.
Try a search on 'darrell's scout mount' also. I don't think he makes a mount for mausers yet, but makes really nice mounts for mosins and swiss rifles.

B-Square mount
I obtained and installed the B-Square mount on my converted M-48. Works slick. You are limited in 'scope selection with it, though.
Leupold makes a Scout Scope, at a fixed 2.75 power. Burris also makes a 'scope. For a few $$ more I got the Leupold. Am not through with load development yet for this rifle, but so far the 'scope and the mount seem to be holding up perfectly.

Those Iron Elites look nice. I wouldn't mid having one to fit on my 98/22 and 98/29 to see what those rifles are really capable of.
