Options for a truly "custom" holster ??

I want to get my son a truly custom holster for Xmas, and I'd like something that really makes a "statement" like WOW !! It'll be for a Sig 220 (w/ HC slide) and I've got the holster maker and style picked out. But I guess I don't have much imagination or history to draw on. I'm thinking like exotic leathers, or metal inlays, or.....???? Do any of you have any pics of fancy holsters you'd be willing to share, or a source of info for such things ? Thanx in advance......

There are all sorts of exotic skins to draw from, and the prices vary quite a bit as well. Most skins are charged by the square foot; some though, such as gator, generally prices by the square inch. I think a mixture of exotic skin, like elephant ear, and some tooling on the leather can give the holster a lot of pizzaz. I like stingray and shark, too. Oftentimes you can find the skins in different colors, too. I've seen some nice Anaconda inlaid against medium brown leather, with minimum tooling, that will make you drool. Highlights done with a slight contrasting thread color can add to a holsters' appearance as well. I've seen stone, such as turquoise, used. There are small conchos available now in a variety of designs.

Have you asked your holster maker for suggestions? Maybe they have photos/examples of previous work that they can show you to get some ideas. It will also give you an idea of what they are/aren't capable of making for you.
