Aside from the color and the 10 round mag is there any difference between these 2 firearms? I know the combat was subjected to the SOCOM torture tests but are the internals any different? Anybody had a chance to break them down side by side?

I'm looking at purchasing a 220 and I'm just trying to justify the price difference between the two just to have an "earth" color gun instead of black.

Yes, the internals are different. They are coated with phosphate and/or nickel.

There used to be some descriptive posts over on Sigforum, not sure if they are still there.

The rail system on the Combat is a true 1913 spec, while the 220R is not. The Combat's that are shipping now are supposed to ship with a chrome lined barrel, the 220R is not. As has been mentioned, the internals are parkerized or chromed to reduce rusting and some claim they slick up the action.

Due to the difference in the rail, the Combat will not fit in a holster that is make to fit the 220R frame closely.

I figured they re-worked it a bit - combat will probably hold its value better than the 220R too. Now I've just gotta sell my Beretta for a decent price. The Equinox is a pretty gun too but I think I've limited it down to the combat model now. Thanks guys.
