"panic prices" on SKS's

Not an SKS, but the grand daddy of all post-election panic prices was the $2351 some poor (as in "unfortunate", obviously not as in "strapped for cash") soul paid for a Century Yugo underfolder AK on Gunbroker.

the local pawn/gun shop has 4 yugo's for $269 currently. I would buy one but I just don't like the yugo version of this rifle. I prefer the norinco or romanian versions and I already have one yugo.

Hell will freeze over before I pay above $325 for an SKS, even for one in very good condition. I paid $220 with a dragonov style stock. My buddy working at the gun store almost gave it to me for 200 but his manager walked over and told him $220.

Wow, and I thought $1000 for a Mini 14 was bad. Or $100 for an AK mag.

PS- NOT what I paid, just what I saw some sap on GB paid.

Ah the good ol days of even 3-4 years ago, My first firearm ever was my Yugo 59/66, I got it for $75 in 2005 becuase the gas valve was worn.

Nowadays you better be prepared to shell out $275-350 for a Yugo 59/66

I should buy an SKS. Just for fun. But then again, I'd just end up giving it to my dad, because I always want to give him guns for some reason. I guess I just never think he's well armed enough. He's more of an old western kind of guy, and I'm more of a black rifle kind of guy. So he packs a single action revolver and I pack a doublestack 9mm, and so on. You get the idea. Anyway, we can't seem to convince each other otherwise, so we keep giving eachother guns to try to chainge the other's mind. It never works, but I guess I'm comfortable with that. ;)

I haven't seen many SKSs for sale around here. Last AK I saw was a well used Rommie with an underfolder and a slant brake. The price tag said $650 and had a red "SOLD" written over it in permanent marker. So apparently, despite gouger prices, the things are selling for whatever people are asking for them.

Bah, my local pawn shop upped all the prices in the store (most by just increasing the hundreds digit by one)...but SKS's are now...drum roll please...$799.

My main gun-buddy at work just found a Norinco SKS at his favorite pawn/gun shop for $125, and talked 'em down to $100 !!
I'm not a big SKS guy, but hell, I woulda jumped on that myself !!

Well a few days ago I saw some for at a shop for $600:eek: but hey the guy was actually selling them. However I do know a few other shops that haven't caught on to the rising prices and still have them for $250.

The most recent gun show here in Colorado Springs, 2 weeks ago, Yugo's were going for $300-$350, LOL@those prices.

I picked up a Chinese Paratrooper at the last gun show with a 20 round mag for $250.

prices are nuts... at a show here saturday after thanksgiving i saw them from 279 up to 699. Fortunately i bought one in excellent condition a week before from a guy for $100!!! Wohooo.... now i just have to deal with ridiculous prices on x39

i too remember the days when booths at gun shows would have CRATES of sks's for $79. Only about 5 years ago... wish i'd bought a case of them at that price...

Have one?

Just fishing
if you have a nice SKS without the panic price give me a pm

Maybe I can convince my wife to let me buy one.

If this was any other season other than an Indiana winter i could buy my Saiga 7.62, and a Russian SKS and still have money for a cheeseburger..

bahhh seasonal work!!

hmmmmmm - im sitting on 5 or 6 yugo/romy's that im into for around $80 a pop, maybee i should dump one or two of them to fund something else.

You guys are really making me consider taking my Norinco to the gun show here next month. I love the thing, but I only paid $195 for it and it's in near new condition. If some fool is willing to pay out the nose for it, hey, why not.

Bought a VG Yugo in '05 for $85 OTD.
hardly ever shoot it, but wouldn't get rid of it either.
