I’ve been really busy lately completing a Pedersoli Pennsylvania Rifle (percussion) kit in .45 caliber. It’s a very high quality kit with double-set triggers. I finished it in a dark walnut stain and browned the barrel. It looks like an original.
I fired it for the first time this afternoon at 50 yards. Despite a horrific crosswind, I loaded it with 70 grains of 3f and it printed a very tight group about one inch to the right. The last round of this group was after a sight adjustment. Group #2 was even better.
I never used a black powder firearm for the first time that didn’t require any experimentation to get a good group. Just to be clear, the kit required inserting the front and rear sights into the barrel dovetails and I just positioned them centered on the barrel flat. I must have positioned them just right.
I’ve been shooting, competing, and hunting with black powder firearms for a long time. I think this rifle is going to perform far more accurately than my custom one. Pedersoli really did a good job with this one!
