Petition against HR1022

I called Reps Mccarthys office this past Friday and told her aid in DC that if her bill passes Can I hold her accountable in a court of law along with the perp that shot, wound ,kill or hurt me. If she says no,Then it is time to tell these people who support gun control to get FIRED from there jobs by the voters. The politicians forget that WE ARE THEIR EMPLOYERS AND THEY[politicains ]ARE JUST OUR PEIONS!!!!!!!! Richard Ziemies,OmahaNe.

You do understand that these online petitions have practically no impact on elected officials right? They are generally agreed to be worthless.

The best way to be heard is to send an individual letter to your representatives in your voting district.

In fact, this petition will only be sent to one person:

Target: Timothy Johnson, Representative, U.S. House of Representatives

It is true that they don't have alot of pull. No one expects one of these things will change the world but they do get looked at. Let's say this one fizzles out without getting any more sigs, then someone could say "See, according to this petition only 17,000 people out of the millions of gun owners object to an 'Assault weapons' ban. It's totally reasonable so they must not care, let's do it."

It's cool if you don't want to sign it, but please don't discourage others from doing so. Gun owners need all the say they can get, if this can help show that people are against the ban, it's a good thing.

No, they actually don't get looked at in any detail at all.

The Rep this targets is not going to have his staff look over this and pull out the number of his actual constituents that signed, and if you think they care what people that can't vote for them think well.......

I'm all for activism however. Make sure you send a letter specifically to the folks in whose district you reside.

THAT carries weight. Hand written letters from real voters.
