A while back I was asking about bullet expansion in my PF 9 using using Winchester Ranger 124gr. +P The bullet lost two of the lead petals so the "after" weight was 117 grs.

Thanks for the info! Off topic, how reliable has your pf9 been? Thinking about picking one up myself but cautious due to the mixed reviews

100% Shot a couple hundred rounds of 124gr. Federal FMJ through it at first with zero problems. Since then I have used 147gr Winchester Ranger HP and now the 124+P. The gun has not missed a beat. Fits in the pocket nicely. The one thing I did change is I added the Keltec trigger shoe. It stopped the pinching of my trigger finger. If I was going to shoot it a lot I would go to an after market trigger.

Mine has also been 100% reliable after about 200 rounds fired, mixed JHP and fmj.

On expansion, I got good results firing into water with the cheapo UMC 115gr JHP's Walmart sells by the hundred for like $27.

Nice pic! What did that bullet expand in? Thanks

My PF9 is a good one thus far. Its so light and thin that there is no excuse to not carry a gun.

I wish I could say my PF9 has been reliable but it has not. I stopped carrying it because of all the light strikes I was getting. I cannot fire a magazine without getting multiple light strikes even if I go slow and make sure to reset the trigger. All tyoes of ammo, FMJ and HP. I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned the firing pin but that did not help. I ordered a new spring and am hoping that will fix the problem. If not then it will go back to Kel-Tec. I really like the gun and have switched to the P3aT for pocket carry right now. 100% reliable with the 380.

The good old CHEAP standby...............trash can full of water. Muzzle was about 5' about the top of the water
Some years back I saw some tests done with water and the same rounds fired into gelatin.

All rounds fired into the water expanded, but some did not expand when fired into ballistic gelatin.

Just using water is fun, but not a reliable test for bullet expansion.
