hi all. im ordering my milspec next week but am torn between park and stainless finishes. according to the website, there is no difference in weight. . . this struck me as a bit odd, if anyone has a comment on that i'd appreciate it. that being said if weights are somehow equal, i'd usually lean toward stainless, except the picture on the SA website of the stainless milspec looks god awful. do they really look like that? it looks almost like it was sprayed with krylon.

thanks in advance

Here you go.

The wood grips in some of the photos are aftermarket
tulipwood by Hogue. In person they aren't nearly as red,
but have a much subtler dark-pink/tan coloration that
blends sublimely with the stainless.
For some reason, Springfield Armory's website photo of the
stainless Mil-Spec is a lot different from the real thing.
All the ones I've seen have had polished flats and their
rounds are blasted very rough, giving them an almost dark
gray color. The stainless Mil-Spec is beautiful and
never fails to elicit admiring reactions from those who see
it; I would definitely choose it over parkerization.

that milspec looks just like the GI finish to me..
The Mil-Spec and GI in stainless are both polished the same. I think the parkerized models is where the start to differ.

oic.. so is the milspec made in America? and the GI made in brazil? or is it the milspec is made in brazil and assembled in America.. The reason I ask, is because I noticed the milspec has the springfield armory stamp on the side. The GI does not.

The SS Milspec is a Brazilian gun. Have had mine about three years now and like it. Got my first 1911 in 1960 so I have something to compare it to.

IMHO it is almost a barbecue gun as it is a very handsome piece. The parkerized version is actually more practical to me with its lower profile. I wound up with the SS finish as the gun was something of a gift and I have other "working" 1911s.

You pay your money and you take your choice.

im going to pick myself up one of those SS ones, I happen to be raised around SS my whole life(my dad works with it) so i know its a good metal, and i wont have to worry about any blueing or any other finish
